It’s finally online-the Peter Swales video we’ve been waiting for P31

The impression i got regarding Tony was especially when he was coaching the kids was that he was as hard a snails, very competitive and took no shit, i don't think that clip does him justice. He i'm sure knew was that despot with the comb over was like and wanted to keep his job.
White and lakes books confirm him and pardoe were very tough with the kids

I was about 9 when Swales took over & didnt really understand the workings of the club but my old dad always used to say We would never do any good under Swales,
We still had season tickets but as the years went on Dad stopped going on a regular basis & I moved into the Kippax as I got older, I think what finished it for dad going to games was when Swales took on Billy McNeil as manager & Swales said something along the lines of "if he goes I go" Talking about McNeil,
Needless to say McNeil went & Swales stayed where he was, very sad really as we could & should have been one of the top clubs during that time & lost a lot of potential fans during that era.

Wasn’t he just the club doctor?
As answered elsewhere previously, Luft was the club doctor.
But Rose was considered a genuine superstar in surgery. Abdominal injuries was his speciality.
Quietly worked on everyone from SAS officers blown up in Belfast to members of the royal family and average Manc kids in between
It truly beggars belief that such a capable man would be taken in by a two bob TV rental salesman

I'm not so sure, City finished 1978-79 in 15th which was a very disappointing season by the standard of the previous ones. This being part of what caused Swales to act & bring back Allison, practically bankrupting the club in the process over the next few months/years.

Now, I'm not saying if a better appointment had been made with more shrewd investment/decision making (ie. not selling all of our international players) we could of got back competing again, I think we could have, but we certainly were nowhere near Liverpool/major honours in that final season under Book.
Alison came in halfway through that season

I think Malcolm was probably ‘that’ mate, we all have them.
Did Tony have a place over there or just a regular visitor? Iirc you lived there for a bit? Love the place

No they all came over in June every year and stayed at the Vulcano hotel and drank in the Brahms and List every night.
