What fee are we going to get for a 34 year old on big wages whos lost his pace..
Walker's not lost his pace. He was quicker than all against him in world football, & now he's not as quick. However, that STILL makes him quicker than 95% of players he'll come up against, even at his advancing years.

We've had the best years from England's best ever RB. Like all players in their mid-30s, he's physically on the wane & was likely to be replaced by City in the near future. If we allow him to leave for free, or for a nominal fee, there's no better way for City to honour Kyle & say thank you for your years of sterling service & for the great memories.

His foot race battles with Vini Jnr, will forever remain in football folklore. City need to step up a level at RB, & Kyle needs to step down a level to preserve his career for another 2-3 seasons before hanging up his boots. That's the realities of football & the best for both parties.

I suspect the reason Kyle spoke to Txiki direct, is he finds it difficult to say no to Guardiola. He's doing what's best for him & his family (who need a break from the UK's prying media), & his request to leave forces City's hand to free up some of the hundreds of millions we've accumulated in transfer profits, & bring in the best replacement we can for Kyle.

Hakimi is the player I'd want, but prising him from PSG & convincing him to move country is another matter altogether.

We don't owe anything, he has asked to leave, bonus waived already.

I am all good with the club lerting a long term olayer go for free out of respect and whatever. But it pisses against out public policy over the years - bring us the right fee and you can go, and it shits on players that have reapected that like bernardo, garcia, torres, alvarez, etc.
He's more than paid his original fee back, I think City will just let him go after 7½ years of service and we'll move on.

Made Captain tonight, think he just extended his deal as well looking at reports 2029 set to be confirmed

I get that. Same with Bernardo? Ederson? Anyone that fancies a move in the middle of the season?

He was quicker than all but now isn’t as quick = hasn’t lost his pace :)

Not everything has to be equal.

When someone is having a detrimental impact on the team I think we adjust our plans and we also are taking advantage of some things perhaps with Reis and the Uzbek lad so we need to free up wages and squad space.

That is true. It is an observation, and it is valid. But I did start with saying I am ok with it, and I get the other side of it. Hope other players do too.

That's like saying Usain Bolt lost his pace after setting his world record. He didn't. He just never reached that height again, but was still faster than all his competitors.

If Walker had his current pace, but emerged as a 22 year old target for City, would you claim he had no pace?

If he isn’t as quick as he was, he has lost some pace, simples

With Walker it isn't as much that he has lost his pace (it has noticeably dropped), it's that it has dropped and he hasn't mitigated for it. He still likes giving opponents a headstart

His blistering pace was his USP. It doesn't mean he's of no use to City being slighter slower, but after 8 years together, Kyle's in need of a fresh challenge & a new start for him & his young family, & City need to begin the much needed rebuild of our ageing squad.

Walker is merely the first of several legends to be leaving us over the next two seasons. This inevitable exodus will herald the next iteration of Guardiola's Manchester City. The good thing about it, is Pep seems bang up for the rebuild & the challenges ahead, which is great news for City.

100% that's what I was poorly alluding to - he needed to adapt better to losing that pace to make himself of more use. However, I didn't think he should have extended back when Pep convinced him to and completely see the appeal of getting that payday elsewhere - much worse destinations than Milan.
