Walker's not lost his pace. He was quicker than all against him in world football, & now he's not as quick. However, that STILL makes him quicker than 95% of players he'll come up against, even at his advancing years. What fee are we going to get for a 34 year old on big wages whos lost his pace..
We've had the best years from England's best ever RB. Like all players in their mid-30s, he's physically on the wane & was likely to be replaced by City in the near future. If we allow him to leave for free, or for a nominal fee, there's no better way for City to honour Kyle & say thank you for your years of sterling service & for the great memories.
His foot race battles with Vini Jnr, will forever remain in football folklore. City need to step up a level at RB, & Kyle needs to step down a level to preserve his career for another 2-3 seasons before hanging up his boots. That's the realities of football & the best for both parties.
I suspect the reason Kyle spoke to Txiki direct, is he finds it difficult to say no to Guardiola. He's doing what's best for him & his family (who need a break from the UK's prying media), & his request to leave forces City's hand to free up some of the hundreds of millions we've accumulated in transfer profits, & bring in the best replacement we can for Kyle.
Hakimi is the player I'd want, but prising him from PSG & convincing him to move country is another matter altogether.
