Sort of get that. But to loose Rodri was a hammer blow. Then long term absenses for Stones, Dias, KDB, Kovacic, Bobb and fitness concerns for Walker, Foden and others have been catestrophic.
Even if we had bought players in during the summer we would still have struggled.
That said we need a Rodri alternative to share the load, account for him being injured and to occasionally play with a double pivot to reduce the chances of conceding in certain big games.

For me , the loss of Bobb was the only one that could really be described as unexpected. Stones, Ake, de Bruyne have been in and out of the A&E so often that it was inevitably going to take a toll on Dias/Akanji; Walker was already looking a spent force last spring. Similarly, when you have a player such as Rodri going public about the effects of game time, then we can hardly say we weren't warned. Guardiola has already acknowledged that his length of absence is going to make further injuries likely, so we cannot continue to labour under the impression that he will return as was and manage around 4,000 minutes per season. For whatever reason, a number of important warning signs appear to have been ignored in recent seasons, and if a trophyless season is the price of ensuring it doesn't happen again, so be it.

Due to the financial fair play constraints, Txiki is no longer buying any fancy jumpers or cardigans.
He has however bought several balls of wool and has enrolled in evening classes on crocheting and aran stitch knitwear

46.01: As of the round of 16, a club may register a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the current competition. Such registration must be completed by 3 February 2025 (24.00CET) at the latest. This deadline cannot be extended.
46.02: Any or all of the players from the above quota of three may have been fielded for another club in the qualifying phase, play-offs or group stage of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League or UEFA Europa Conference League.

Thanks for reminding me, keep forgetting that rule. When I did remember I think Reis and Echeverri only go into PL squads and not CL.

The loan ended 31/12/24. He is already on our Premier League list.

Just need to wait for him to be knocked out of the Sudamericana U20 tournament now before becoming part of the squad for selection.
