We'd be too open in midfield with that team. Need more balance in midfield with a box to box controlling midfielder alongside Rodri.

Me too - Carlos Baleba would be our best signing in years.
We’ve never had anyone else anyway. we’ve always played with just one defensive midfielder. All we need is a backup, but a quality one, so Rodri can rest and rotate with him occasionally.
Not sure why we think he is a target or available.

Back when we had the world’s best midfield, we only needed technical, intelligent, quick-thinking players who could pass masterfully. A quality 6/8 hybrid like Bruno G, for example, would fit perfectly, as he could easily slot into the starting 11 even when Rodri returns, because he’s great going forward too. But signing a Baleba or Zubimendi-type player ? Nah, that’d kill our creativity. One world-class DM like Rodri is enough (and he’s very creative himself!), especially with two geniuses ahead like prime Gündogan/David Silva and KDB. That’s the recipe.
