It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

I’m excited by all these young, unknown, hopefully high potential signings but when you look at the fixtures for Feb and March I can only see pep playing any of them in the Leyton Orient game.

I am very excited for the Leyton Orient game though.

Drawn against Madrid with no proper right back and a midfield that gets ran through every game................
We'll give them a game if we can get a DM in but it could get very ugly if we have to go with our present midfield

If we don't sign a DM, I can only assume that Rodri is going to be back a lot quicker than we think.

Granted, he will take some time to get back to speed, but maybe he's going to be playing 30 mins for a few games in March and the decision makers think that this is good enough.
March?? Surely joking...
Rodri is human like all others and he's a big lad who's knees and ACL will have to carry his weight.

We also would be plain stupid to risk him early.
He surely shouldn't and won't play anything where we would rely on him before summer.

We have enough now to reach top5.
We have enough to go far in FA cup,
depending on draws.
And we most probably will have NOT the best chances to win the CL with our chaos in defence and no Rodri - and any new DM who won't be able to click immediately in the epicenter of our game when others get a full 1st season to settle in.

Yes, we slowly are improving, but playing top CL sides is a different kettle than Bruges and even Chelsea.

One of the Saudi clubs looking to bring in kova in this window apparently.
We better not let him go even if sign another midfielder
Wonder what club would do if we got a £35 million offer or so? On business side of things fantastic deal but leaves midfield situation even worse than already is

I don't think a single Brightom player of the last 5 years has been proven to be good enough for us.

Caicedo would get in our team right now, but not the Treble winning team, or really any team from 2017 to 2024.

The standards at midtable clubs are much lower than ours, so their best players look like they're outperforming.
Not according to this subforum. Every tram has players better than ours, and we shlukd be paying 80m + for any of their Mitomas, Belebas, Fergusons, Cucurellas, Macalisters etc.

The club knows much better than anybody on here what we need

The simple facts are that it is not easy to sign a player that the selling club either need or over value by some margin, especially mid season

I would guess that if Douglas Luis was available on a straight loan, he would be here already.

No point in buying someone that they have doubts or don’t see as a future player in this window

We may have to accept that this is a transition season. If we manage to qualify for the CL , than that would be a good transition season for me

Mac Allister would absolutely have been getting in our team and is far better than anything we have at the moment off the ball. Mitoma could be argued.

Bit disingenuous to argue that no one from Brighton's squad in the last five years wouldn't get in the Treble side. We were pretty rubbish Dec-Jan of that season, but on the run in and champions league knockouts the 11s were world class. Except for say, Grealish who was doing a specific job, which you could then argue you don't really know how a player, world class or otherwise, will play in a Pep team until they do.

May would be earliest you’d see Rodders.

Agree 100% with your post, BUT taking into consideration "The club knows much better than anybody on here what we need", it begs the question why we've left our succession planning until the point that we're desperate?

Guardiola's admitted (for what it's worth) that it was he who turned down the opportunity to commence the rebuild last summer. It's a rebuild that should've started immediately after the treble imo.

Now we're in a situation where as you said, "No point in buying someone that they have doubts or don’t see as a future player in this window. We may have to accept that this is a transition season."

Again, I agree 100% with what you're saying, but must also add that this was totally avoidable from Manchester City.
