Madrid would have already knocked us out by then.If we don't sign a DM, I can only assume that Rodri is going to be back a lot quicker than we think.

We'll give them a game if we can get a DM in but it could get very ugly if we have to go with our present midfieldDrawn against Madrid with no proper right back and a midfield that gets ran through every game................

We may well, but we won't be basing our transfer strategy on on game that we might lose/or win either way. That would be very shortsighted. We'll give them a game if we can get a DM in but it could get very ugly if we have to go with our present midfield
March?? Surely joking...If we don't sign a DM, I can only assume that Rodri is going to be back a lot quicker than we think.
Granted, he will take some time to get back to speed, but maybe he's going to be playing 30 mins for a few games in March and the decision makers think that this is good enough.
One of the Saudi clubs looking to bring in kova in this window apparently.
We better not let him go even if sign another midfielder
Only truly exceptional youngsters like Camavinga.I don’t think any of them have been good enough, including Nunes. Some can be back ups, squad fillers, but that’s not what we should be aiming for. Do Real Madrid sign players from mid table clubs?
Wonder what club would do if we got a £35 million offer or so? On business side of things fantastic deal but leaves midfield situation even worse than already isOne of the Saudi clubs looking to bring in kova in this window apparently.

Not according to this subforum. Every tram has players better than ours, and we shlukd be paying 80m + for any of their Mitomas, Belebas, Fergusons, Cucurellas, Macalisters etc.I don't think a single Brightom player of the last 5 years has been proven to be good enough for us.
Caicedo would get in our team right now, but not the Treble winning team, or really any team from 2017 to 2024.
The standards at midtable clubs are much lower than ours, so their best players look like they're outperforming.

Yes, every single summer usually.I don’t think any of them have been good enough, including Nunes. Some can be back ups, squad fillers, but that’s not what we should be aiming for. Do Real Madrid sign players from mid table clubs?

May would be earliest you’d see Rodders.March?? Surely joking...
Rodri is human like all others and he's a big lad who's knees and ACL will have to carry his weight.
We also would be plain stupid to risk him early.
He surely shouldn't and won't play anything where we would rely on him before summer.
We have enough now to reach top5.
We have enough to go far in FA cup,
depending on draws.
And we most probably will have NOT the best chances to win the CL with our chaos in defence and no Rodri - and any new DM who won't be able to click immediately in the epicenter of our game when others get a full 1st season to settle in.
Yes, we slowly are improving, but playing top CL sides is a different kettle than Bruges and even Chelsea.
Agree 100% with your post, BUT taking into consideration "The club knows much better than anybody on here what we need", it begs the question why we've left our succession planning until the point that we're desperate? The club knows much better than anybody on here what we need
The simple facts are that it is not easy to sign a player that the selling club either need or over value by some margin, especially mid season
I would guess that if Douglas Luis was available on a straight loan, he would be here already.
No point in buying someone that they have doubts or don’t see as a future player in this window
We may have to accept that this is a transition season. If we manage to qualify for the CL , than that would be a good transition season for me

Guardiola's admitted (for what it's worth) that it was he who turned down the opportunity to commence the rebuild last summer. It's a rebuild that should've started immediately after the treble imo.
Now we're in a situation where as you said, "No point in buying someone that they have doubts or don’t see as a future player in this window. We may have to accept that this is a transition season."
Again, I agree 100% with what you're saying, but must also add that this was totally avoidable from Manchester City.
