It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

Stating a fact ”you're a heck of a fan”.
Yeah unfortunately we wont be facing relegation candidates every week and as this team has shown over and over again they fold almost every time they face a good team. Just in the last 10 days the team has been absolutely embarrassed twice so its hard to talk about that we are in some kind of form.
Of course we can reach top4 but ruling out we finish a couple of places below that in the table is just pure delusion at this point.
Yes yes, we get it, foorball is lost and won with a pen in the transfer windows and everything else is a foregone conclusion.

Looks like we've planned for the future in this window and not for now when we desperately need it. Again shit planning but there's still 17 hours, lol

If we want to try and salvage something out of this horrendous season needs must. Of course if we could rely on some of our sick note defenders getting and staying fit it would ease things but sadly that appears a lost cause. A right back is vital and a DM too. A couple in loan, anything that is better than Nunez at right back and what we have in our ancient pedestrian midfield.

Have you been saying this whilst we wiped the floor with every team in the country and Europe for the past several years or just the last several weeks when we have been off the boil?

Can tell we are playing shit when posters are now declaring the players don't kick people enough and show some pashun and bollocks on the field.

Maybe Collymore was right all along and Pep should go and we bring in Allardyce and Warnock till the end of the season.

Let's bring in Lee Cattermole and see if Joey Barton can give us 3mths to get us a European spot.
You’re not getting the point. I’ve said this before, the players that we have won all those titles with or had battles with all those battles with Liverpool, Atlético Madrid or Real Madrid are mouthy af, players like Rodri, Gundogan, Walker, Dias, Ederson, Bernardo, KDB, Haaland, Grealish. (ALOT of those players will be gone in the summer btw) Basically you won’t see them get scared if another player from another team gave it to them, or leaves a late one on them. They’ll give it back.
The issue we have is the new era of signings, Akanji, Gvardiol, Doku, Kovacic, Nunez, Savio, Ake, are pushovers.
Foden (been here for years I know) is the biggest culprit.

Foden (not a signing I know) is the biggest culprit. Soft as baby shit.
Ake is not soft

Exactly, or we're just happy to toss this season off and try again next. If we stay as we are then there's a few more hammerings on the way before the season is out, and some of those will be in the next few weeks

What is the fix for our current woes would you suggest?

Not to agree or disagree with this argument, but at the start of the season I had an argument with a City fan on twitter because he tried to claim Foden was our most physical midfielder after Rodri. Absolutely hilarious

There is no instant solution here.
We don't buy someone and they instantly improve the team and change everything around the squad.
We were beaten, yesterday, by one of the very best teams in Europe. We deserved it.

Yesterday, we were missing Ederson, Ake, Dias, Rodri and Bobb.
Yes, it is so frustrating at the moment, but even now as we talk of improvement and players coming back, we are missing VITAL players. Those players would have brought immediate improvement, certainly the first three in place of Ortega, and Akanji (in current form), and Nunes. I am sure that in this game we would have replaced three of the starting back five. The new players are young, or inexperienced playing at this level. They will need time to get used to the league and how we play. We can still look awesome but we are very vulnerable too, and mentally weaker than we were as the result of missing leadership and several humblings this year.

Football is cyclical and we have, largely, broken that with a decade of repeated success. We are treble winners and record breakers and we are having a lull. It happens, we don't live in a perfect world. We have got nearly everything right but chose to enter this season with the same players and a small squad. With hindsight, it was a mistake, but it was one borne of the fact that we are the champions of England, and without the foresight to know that Rodri, Bobb, Foden, KDB, Ake, Akanji, Stones, Doku, Grealish and Dias would all succumb to lengthy absences.

We all hope that things turn around but it is no divine right. Many teams have improved and have learned our vulnerability (in this period) to fast-breaking counter attacking football, and they are good at it. We won't win the league, of course, and we won't win a cup (IMO). Top 4 is no shoe-in either. It is what it is, but at the end of the season, regardless of where we are, I will still be a City fan, and so will my son, and we will go into next year living the same dreams. What a ride it has been, and there will be more to come.

Yeah he was like a young Jon Jones against Liverpool, Villa, Arsenal, Juve, United, Spurs

Not able to get our strongest 11 on the pitch for one game due to injuries.

Players getting older.

Youngsters needing time to get up to speed.

It's just generally an off year for a club that's reached heights that no team in this country can dream of.
Thanks.

In that time we've had players like that though. Fernandinho was a smiling assassin, could play but also do the hard work, and the snide clever little fouls same with Rodri. It's not about kicking people It's about leaders and digging in when it gets tough. Where have the leaders been in the last 30 minutes of the PSG and Arsenal games? We have one real leader and that's Ruben. After their second goal yesterday we fell to bits and it's obviously not the first time this season. No one is saying the want thugs but we want the Zabba, Vinny, Fernandinho, Aguero De Jong, rodri and Dias types who can not only play but dig in. There's not wrong with wanting passion either, because in the last 30 minutes yesterday only one team showed it, while the other side shrank.

To be honest I would have preferred an experienced centre back who could step in immediately, rather than buying the two kids.

Given the difficult run of fixtures, it's hard to envisage either of them starting in any of the upcoming big games.

As others have said ad nauseam, the key area has always been midfield. By my calculations there are just under 12 hours before closing time. Come on Txiki get something done!!

Doku too

Altimira the perfect profile to sign . A very good DM both in and out of possession that will be 2nd choice next season when Rodri is back .

Can't see it happening though. Unlike Gonzalez there has been no contact between club and agent .

How do you know there has been no contact?
