Sounds like a chancer to me. I can’t see us trying to sign Baleba. He’s not that good but Brighton would want £100M+. I doubt we would go anywhere near at that price.

He is flakey and hit and miss - nothing he has done so far is saying he can step up and be a serious footballer instead of some overhyped up kid that has great skill but may not have the application..

As i previously said - its not about techincal ability - its about does he want it enough....is he a winner or just a flair player.

He is a good player, but we need players that can come in and deliver goals and assists worthy of a team aiming to win PL from day one. I'm not so certain he is at that level, yet. Could very well just be another Doku/Savinho, with other words a guy that looks exiting but in the end there is not enough attacking returns to show for it.

It has happened to many clubs over the years. Every club can have a bad season, but if you dont bounce back the next one its only going to get harder after that. We have a very important summer ahead of us, and need to sign top players that will deliver from day one. Not exiting young talents that may or may not become great ones. Not good but not great players that are passengers rather than difference makers. The last two windows we have let several elite serial winners go and we have replaced them with players far beyond their level. In the summer we will probably see several more leave that have been top players here for years. This time we must replace them with elite players ready do deliver from day on in a team aiming to be the best in the world.

Exactly, agree, what worries me is the likes of Wirtz isn't available to us, and get Morgan Gibbs White and so on

Hopefully the club have learned their lesson by now that signing mediocre players leads to having a team not good enough. We have been the top dogs in the most attractive league in the world for a decade now, we can attract top players.
If a player like Wirtz is uncertain its up to Viana to convince him. Thats his job.

Spot on.. And if he doesn’t want to come, then move on quickly.. Find the next David Silva and KDB
 
we need to be very careful when jumping to plan B. we need to find the next Ederson, next Stones, next KDB, next Gundogan, next Mahrez, next Walker etc. players who come here, be part of the first 11 for years to come its not easy. and likes of Kova, Nunes, Doku are not those type of transfers.

I dont think even Nico G is that type but can offer us alternative when Rodri is back t rotate him a bit more. Marmoush maybe yes. Khusanov looks a big prospect.
 
Viana talent ID so far has been spot on Khusanov looks a very good player , Reis in his one cameo appearance looks solid and assured. I trust Viana will find some very good gems in the summer.
