It’s Quiet 20 - What is the Wirtz that could happen?

True. It’s also the case that Guardiola won’t want to go through a long season with a squad largely consisting of promising but untried youngsters.

Stones’ contract expires at the same time as Bernardo’s.

I think the English players will be relatively easy to move on. Homegrown rules across the league will see them in demand and grab decent enough money.

I think we will get £40m for Jack, £30m for Mcatee and £30m for John.

Listening to his comments in the press conference ahead of the Plymouth Argyle match, it sounds like he anticipates that the players with time left on their contracts will be here next season.
Expected really. Who on earth would touch them?

It’s not really expected, if we want to buy a couple of players, then players under contract will need to go. We might not know which ones yet, but we know some will be going. Sure there are clubs that would be interested in Kovacic, Bernardo, Nunes, Grealish, Ederson, Walker,Gundogan.

Not a chance we get anything for Stones with a year left on a 250k a week deal.

He stays and leaves on a free next year

Agree…I think Stones, Kovacic, and Bernardo stay. If we can bring in another young CB this summer we can use Stones as sort of a super sub. Plus he can impart his wisdom on the younger guys.

That’s so optimistic. McaTee yeah maybe.

No team in their right mind is going to spend £30m on Stones, 100% we keep him around until his contract ends. He’s 31 before the end of the season, on relatively high wages and he’s the most injury prone player we’ve got.

Grealish similarly, stupid wages and injury problems. Be lucky to get half what you mentioned.

£30m for Stones when he's on a kings ransom, never stays fit and only has a year left is wildly optimistic. I'd say similar for Grealish too, who will end up on loan somewhere

WHO wants 400k/week ? He isn’t worth that. Also there is a reason why Munich doesn’t care. Not even because he is 30 but because he just isn’t worth it. For many the team plays even better without him. World class LB? He never played that position.
Just keep Bernardo and Kovacic at this point they won’t do worse than him.
Exactly. We should have learnt by now that with certain players and positions we cannt mess around..

A 30 year old Kimmich who has never played in the prem league will struggle to adjust. He maybe a great player but he is not what we need - we need technical ability mixed with physicality....yes probably a unicorn of a player but that is Vianas role - to find those players - that is why he is payed the big bucks

Despite what Pep has said as well abut not moving some of the older players on it should go without saying that there is no point in a player being here if he cant play regularly - KDB, Stones, Ake, Gundo - cannot play regularly and are regularly injured (Ake, Stones and KDB) - KDB is nowhere near the level required either and people need to see that - its the same as Walker..its not just the physicality its the actual playing ability that has gone as well. KDB is getting done every game he plays in by players who were no where near his level of ability even 12 months ago....now look...same happened to walker - Stones and Ake are rarely available so there is no point in keeping them - great players but they cant contribute if they aint on the pitch which they rarely are

Other players are not upto standard plain and simple - Gundo, Grealish and unfortunately Kovacic being the main three.....Compare Doku's performances even when we are struggling to Grealish's - Doku is a braver player who continues to try and create even amidst shit performances...grealish does very little - he is useful for control of a game once we are ahead but that is about it...we need better

Bernardo might scrape through the cull - but the rest are done....ANY hesitation by Pep or the club on this based on loyalty or watery eyed nostalgia is a HUGE mistake and only leaves us falling behind -

I agree - run up to a World Cup next summer. Some teams will approach for loan deals and guarantee playing time. Would not surprise me if Grealish went to Villa, if they return Rashford.

One things for certain, we do need a relatively large overhaul in the summer. What I can't get my head around is how this happens with us playing in the Club World Cup.

Say we do sell 6 and bring in 4. That's a lot of negotiations to be handling when a number of those 6 could be in our World Cup squad and some of the 4 could be playing for the opposition.

I really feel Fifa have made it even more difficult for us this year to negotiate deals with having the World Cup in the middle of the transfer window.

One things for sure, Viana has his work cut out this summer.

Could be a blessing in disguise. We have an extra window before the World Cup where we could bring a couple in and get them somehow integrated into the group at the World Cup. In an ideal world we do most of our business of incoming transfers in that window, and then use the rest of the summer offloading those we want out and focusing on a big fish like Wirtz?

Unless we pay them up of course its expected? Who in their right mind would pay anything for Stones on 250k a week and cant play back to back games without breaking down?

No one! He’ll leave for free when his contracts up.

Well I don't think Stones is going anyway this summer, doesn't mean we can't get anything for any that do go though.Kovacic, Nunes , Grealish, Ederson the most likely to leave, maybe Bernardo plus KDB but obviously he'll be free.

Gundogan close to triggering extension, that's heavily pointing towards 1 of kovacic or bernardo going instead then and almost seals kdb going. No way we go in to next season with both kdb and gundogan if we are being serious about a rebuil ( unless kdb halves his wages for a role player role for 1 more year )

I genuinely can't see him wanting to take it, I am sure we will make a compromise and give him a pay off or if he is happy to quit playing become part of the backroom, which in my opinion needs refreshing.

"I really feel Fifa have made it even more difficult for us this year to negotiate deals with having the World Cup in the middle of the transfer window."

Why?

It could actually be a very useful chance to bed in several new players.

We will also get the benefit of a settled Marmoush, Reis and khusanov (and hopefully Echeverri) after they to have had chance to settle after arriving in January and gaining much needed experience in the PL.
