Declan Rice is not going to United. They wouldn't pay the money before his price went up another £20m.

Chelsea are the club looking to bring him back.

His best mate is Mason Mount and have already told him he's wanted as a replacement for Jorginho.

I know for a fact Rice has thought he was Chelsea bound for the last 2 seasons.

My own thoughts on DM and CM cover position would be to bring Yangel Herrera back from his loan. Costs us nothing apart from his low salary. Decent enough for cover and I suspect would surprise a few how good he actually is. Gives Lavia an extra year or two to develop. Also I like Nico González looks similar in style to Frenkie de Jong but slightly younger and in a years time will only have a year left on his contract.

Frenkie de Jong is on £350m a year salary, too much when we got Bernardo and Gundogan who can play similar role.

Herrera is barely equipped to sit on the bench of this current squad. I would be shocked if he were brought back. We need someone of serious quality for Fernandinho’s spot (someone that can be used more frequently than my fellow countryman). And our lack of squad depth needs to be addressed instead of “we already have X and Y”. We need more bodies.

FDJ on favourable terms is not the kind of move you turn down because a manager with 1 season left is too proud to accept an apology and the player begging to join, no matter who it is.

If you've got 3 years left...well that's different.

I actually don't think Pep would hold going to Barcelona against FDJ though, after all we all know his thoughts on Barca and particularly the Dutch/Cruyff/Ajax connection.

I understand all this but I just can’t take too seriously the point that “he is good friends with Mason Mount”. He may want to move to Chelsea, I don’t doubt that, but I wouldn’t underestimate Pep’s pulling power as well as our project’s. And quite frankly, we could offer better wages.

100% ..Rodri is one of our most important players. We already have a post Fernandinho team and it revolves around Rodri! Fern might play here and there for added security and he’s a bonafide legend, but there is no urgent need to replace him. Saying that, I’d love for us to sign FDJ.

Knowing what we do of Pep that'd be a bridge burner for him. He wasn't impressed with Messi staying at Barca from reports and we didn't make a move for him when he was available.

Whether or not that's true in regards to Messi who knows, but wouldn't surprise me if FDJ changing tact and going to Barca after we had a deal done with him and Pep has said nope never again.
