It's Quiet 17 - Glory Thread

Thanks for the update! Lets all pray Bernardo stays. Replacing him with Bellingham (or pretty much anyone) would be a massive downgrade.
In the short term it would but in the long term the ceiling for Bellingham is a very high one. I’m just not sure Bellingham would be attainable for a decent price this summer given Dortmund have already sold Haaland. I don’t know if it would play into their thinking but losing their big two to the same club wouldn’t be a good look either

I'd, rather keep Bernardo and replace Gundogan next year with Bellingham, but if we have to replace Bernardo this year with him I wouldn't see it as a massive downgrade.

City are going to be completely different animal next season. With Pep wanting Cucurella you can kinda see how we are evolving as a side. obviously we are a posession based team but I think our counter attacks will be the catalyst to us retaining the league and possibly other trophies next season.

Cucurella is not a inverted fullback he’s an orthodox full back he likes to overlap and be heavily involved in counter attacks. He’s also surprisingly quick. Created 42 chances for Brighton last season mostly from counter attacks where Brighton broke quickly.

I think we will still be a possession based side. thats what prem fans think as well,saying Haaland won’t get space in the box. But other teams do attack us and with Kev , Phil , Grealish, Cucurella (if he signs) , Mahrez, that counter attack is lethal and more potent now with a monster up front in Haaland.

It adds a whole new dimension to us as a side. I reckon the transition from us defending to counter attacking now with Haaland in the team will be lethal all our best creative players now have a target to aim for when we break. Especially against the top 6.

it’s just theory and I know pep likes to keep possession when we counter but now with the big man up top and possibly a full back that can bomb down the left and whip balls in you’ve got two new dangerous weapons.

Dissapointed that potentially we will have high turnover of players/staff- everything about City is great atm. But, this summer looks like it could be a summer with a fair few exits. I'm becoming more and more concerned on Bernardo- mainly cuz if they have the money, which it seems they will have if they sell Frenkie or possibly even without- he would most likely want to join Barca as he's always seemed to be interested in playing in Spain (closer to home). Jesus is gone. We've just lost our assistant manager. Sterling could possibly go. People keep saying we wouldn't let x go if x went, but city's policy is quite clearly to let players go- letting ferran go mid season with no striker after he'd shown promise up top demonstrates that timing doesn't matter. If they want out City won't stop them.
Calm down ffs

My take on all this is

Phillips is coming to replace Ferna, non negotiable.

Jesus is leaving and has been replaced by Haaland/Alvarez

They are going to try and sign Cucurella if he does come Zin may go.

Sterling they want to keep him, but would accept £60m this summer.

Bernardo Barca want him City don’t want to sell.

If Sterling or Bernardo left we’d need direct replacements, but I just don’t see them as available this summer at all. De Jong is nowhere near Bernardos level and there are no pacey direct wingers on the market.

Bernardo is the engine of our midfield and should be kept at all costs.
I don't think your wide of the mark with your take on this but I think the Jesus situation is slightly different. My take on it this...

Aguero -> Haaland
Torres -> Alvarez
Mendy/Zin -> Cucurella
Fern -> Phillips

Jesus & Sterling -> Felix?
Bernardo -> Bellingham?

What a window that would be. Mindblowing!

If Silva does go, could we see Foden put in that RM role alongside Kev and Rodri?

In the few games that he had there he was quite good. Has great close ball control like Silva, difficult to get the ball off him which is important in that midfield role, excellent passer and he's full of energy.

He would obviously need to learn a lot but he has the talent and mentality to make that position his own if Silva does go.

This would also give more game time to Grealish in his 2nd year at LW and maybe we buy someone like Felix/Nkunku.
