It's Quiet 18 - Wanna ring the bell?

We need>>

Midfielders>2
Fullback>2
Striker>1
Playmaker>1

That's 600m
Not sure every player we'll sign is gonna cost £100mil.... you'd think we have some scouting network

One of the MF and the playmaker maybe, but a backup striker isn't costing £100mil, not are full backs and what I'd assume a back up DM

£300m to £400mil

Which, given the frugal approach in recent years and with more sales to come, is a very likely spend in summer 2025. In my head, I had £350m.

Let’s face it our squad building is completely fucked. Will take a long time to rectify and I look at clubs over the PL with younger squads and think this could get nasty.

Chelsea building from a great position, they just need to add some experience and I think they’ll be serious again

No half decent would want to join us in our current situation and two would make the situation worse. They do need time to bed in which is something we don't currently have much of. And as for the seniors, although we should be phasing them out but we won't do in one window. Still need a couple of familiar older heads in the squad during the rebuild.

The very first thing we need to do, as a matter of urgency, is to get Viana out of his contract at Sporting and get him at the club within the next couple of weeks. Have him and Guardiola locked in a room, agree on the targets, see how they work together and crack on with it.

The situation has changed over the past month and we can’t afford to have choreographed handovers playing out over the next few months. We don’t have that luxury anymore.

We need the new man in tout de suite and for him to start working straight away, as the January window is the most important we’ve faced in years and we can’t afford to miss out on the top four this season. Which, if we don’t tackle things head on and make several signings, is exactly what we’ll do.

I don't think that's true at all. Things are going to be tough this season. We have to do what is required to ensure next season isn't going to be starting off on the wrong foot. We need to be in the CL and ideally we want to be competing in this year's competition and in the FA Cup. We remain one of the most attractive places to play football on the planet. We've got one of the two best manager's in the world and we pay big wages. I don't think we'll be able to sign the very top players because they don't tend to move during a campaign but we'll still be able to sign brilliant footballers.

We need a DM to cover Rodri and that's a long term need. He's going to be a better option than Gundo and he's going to be able to play with Kovacic and help us sure things up. Half a season to settle in, then he'll be ready to go next campaign.

There's definitely still a need for some senior players during the rebuild. But as long as we have Dias and Rodri we'll have the required winning mentality in the side.

Zubimendi £50m, Bruno Guimaraes £90m
Frimpong £60m, Kerkez £30m
Cunha/Mbuemo £50m
Musiala £140m

Walker, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Mcatee, Lewis, Wilson Esbrand all out.
So, that would be a squad of:

Ederson
Ortega
Carson

Frimpong
Kerkez
Akanji
Ake
Stones
Gvardiol
Dias

Kovacic
Bernardo
Rodri
Guimaraes
Zubimendi
Nunes

Grealish
Doku
Savinho
Bobb
Musiala
Foden

Haaland
Cunha/Mbeumo

I like it but I think Lewis probably stays as backup RB. If he does then you have your 25-man squad right there.

I read that he might indeed arrive early, but only in February, which would obviously mean after the window closes. Sporting have appointed Pereira to replace Amorim, so I presume they’ll want Viana in place to help him steady the ship. They’ve also got Benfica, Porto (cup semi) coming up, and a Champions League game in January, so I think they’ll want to hold him to his contract until February at the earliest.
