As a club we don't tend not to take part in buying in January and we just move them on. If there is an opportunity then of course we would make an attempt in signing that player. With Txiki Bergistain moving on I doubt we will make any signings and Hugo Viana will be fully in charge of the rebuild.

Rodri will be handled with kid gloves when he gets back, so we will need an extra midfielder to cover that.

Plus, the two key lessons of the past few months must surely be that (i) our squad is simply too small and (ii) we’ve allowed our midfield to get old together, with a major overhaul required.

Ultimately it will be determined by who is available. But if two quality midfielders can be bought in January then I think we’ll buy them both, because we need them.
Well if we do bring 2 in and want to register Echeverri then we are full and won't be able to register Rodri. Doubt we will get 2 myself. Most of the transfers will wait until we have a full market to use in the summer.Plus the players that need replacing won't be going anywhere before the summer.

And will actually close off the deals deemed to be important to our progress.

I think McAtee goes in January, so there's another space.

If the club decides that the signing is important or necessary, they will make the decision and pay.

Apart from supporter opinion, who cares ?

The club will see it as a sound investment meeting their requirements , imo of course.

Supporter opinion? With the ongoing legal cases, I hope we spend a billion quid in January just to see the absolute headloss from the media about it

3 Positions that we desperately need are a RB and two midfielders. I believe with that the defence would look more solid and less fragile

At the end of the season there also has to be an uncomfortable conversation about Kev if we give him a new contract or not.

What leads you to believe that 'McAtee goes in January'?
I think he's struggling to get any meaningful opportunities. There are some rumours emerging about interested parties, but it's the lack of game time in a side that's struggling that's telling. Kalvin Phillips went through a similar situation 12 months ago and went to West Ham. I don't see where the opportunities emerge for him.

110m ish according to the current stories (tiers varying). we've spent more on worse tbh
Can’t see it being both it’s one or the other.

Going into the season Tolmie said we wanted Wharton this summer so makes sense we are looking now but he hasn’t had a great year and has had injuries as well?

Zubi makes sense as a great player, Txiki special a release clause and has and can olay alongside Rodri.

Wharton started the season playing with a groin issue, they finally gave up and let him have the surgery start of this month (expected 5-6 weeks out) so should be back next week or so?

Zubi just comes down to him i think. He wants it, we do it.

Yeah Zubi would be great but depends if the club are ready to move on from Wharton. They may have seen him as the next generation of City players.

I’ll always back what the club do and either would be a great addition in Jan.

Think in our current situation I’d prefer Zubi but get Wharton potentially has more value long term

Think Wharton is a 'well we're going to ask in summer, lets just see what it'll cost us to move that up'
