It's Quiet - a new dawn

I am glad he has done the deals today, and I did say I was happy that 4 top players are in, but it's bad strategy and implementation when you need 3/4 full backs a month from Kick Off. We had this discussion yesterday: the event was predictable. Don't wait until the last few weeks of the last month in the last window of their 4 careers. I know there's a lot going on, but this is part of his job. It has double whammy, it puts us at risk in the transfer mkt and it also means we have seasons like last when we ended up playing wingers and fmidfielders at full back because the proper full backs were past it.

No, it's not bad strategy, it's completely fucking normal, as you can see from the similar situations at every other club we compete with.

So now you know you're chatting shit, you're going back to the decision to keep Zabaleta, Sagna and Clichy, which is another bullshit one, because there's no point replacing them before Guardiola arrived, and the decision was made to keep them because we had other areas to strengthen - GK, CB, CM, ST - the whole core of the team in other words and the areas to go with first would have been Pep's decision.

For Fuck's sake, it's not even funny any more...

We've been hearing for months that the aim was to get people in before the tour, and it looks incredibly likely that 4 of our 5 priority signings will be on the plane. If a close friend of Guardiola's hadn't broken his personal agreement then we'd have 5/7 targets done and dusted.

Please tell us more about how he's not doing his fucking job.

And remember to compare him to:

Woodward (broke the world record for a second choice after Mourinho briefed the press about how unhappy he was),

Chelsea (signed fucking no one and Conte leaking tot he press he might quit)

Liverpool (Signed 1 decent winger, got reported for tapping up and have failed to get their other target from Leipzig)

Spurs - who have signed no one despite Rose going on the radio saying they needed a statement signing.

Not doing his job...

Quite a lot of city fans wondering what we are doing regarding full backs if you read the forums. So far we haven't actually signed any. Tkxci's record isn't great over the last few years is it? So fair point to question what he has been up to thus far.

Walker and mendy would be great if they actually sign. But I could have identified them as good fullbacks. It would be good to see us sign an up and coming player as cover for them or maybe give maffeo an opportunity?

No it's not a fair question, it's completely idiotic. We all know what he's doing.

Oh and you could identify them as good players, congratu-fucking-lations! Why don't you go off an be DoF somewhere, you might work out that identifying the players is about 5% of the job.

Identifying them as good full backs and signing them are two different things. They were our first choice options so if we get them both then I'd say it's been a job well done.

We all know what decisions were made, but they were wrong. And that's not with the benefit of hindsight. We knew all those full backs were coming to their end of their careers. Bad management. There is no way round that and I am really surprise you are so forthright about this. I know Guardiola and City had a lot of work to do when he arrived. But that's Txiki's job and you might ask why so much needed doing at one of the best resourced clubs in the game.

You could have bought Walker and Mendy today. That takes no insight at all. I was trying to be even-handed about Txiki because I do think he has made some outstanding signings but we messed up with the full backs.

I was making a straightforward statement, but if you want to make a fool of yourself. Carry on!

So again, you're referring to last summer in order to try and make out Begiristain isn't doing a good job now.

If you actually think it takes no competence to sign the likes of Mendy or Walker, top level players, sought after by a lot of clubs, the exact players that the manager wants, not second choices like Mourinho or Conte are getting, then you're just an idiot, pure and simple. And I know @FantasyIreland will probably tell me off for insulting you, but sorry it's something only a genuine fucking moron would think.

Just to let you know, we have strengthened the GK position this summer not 2 years back. CB is still a concern. I don't recall any good CM that has been bought prior to Guardiola's arrival. And talking about ST, which striker did we buy exactly before Guardiola arrived? And if that area has indeed been solved, then why are we chasing after strikers this window?

You made a statement that was complete and utter bollocks, decrying our transfer strategy despite being miles ahead of our rivals.
