It's Quiet the £250m return

Sorry to keep saying the same thing but...IMO we need a new CB more than anything else.

That said we have 2 new CBs but whether they ever play or are good enough it another thing. And we have a number of older guys but whether they can manage a run of games is pretty doubtful. Or regain their form?

The truth is that we have no MONSTER and without one I don't think we'll do much this year.

We are really lacking a defender like Kompany. You could put him next to anyone and would remain world class. Dias was the promised player, then the past two seasons have just been lacklustre for him. He can really only play with a defender that is rapid next to him (Walker or Akanji). However, Akanji has lost some of his ability. Stones and Ake are permanently injured. Gvardiol seems similar to Dias in the sense that he needs someone to police him.

However, all of the current defenders seem a bit timid. Dare I say we need someone like Rudiger or Gabriel in our team that shithouses and knocks the opposition down a peg. Kompany was never malicious, but would make his presence known (Diego Costa tussle as proof).

People seriously think Pep will allow anyone to take players away from him that he wants and trusts. Zero chance. The real "rebuild" will starts when pep leaves. Suspect he wil give it one more go this season to leave on a high
How can he leave on a high though if we regularly struggle at the back and our tactics up front are ineffective?

To me he'll be going on a low unless he changes his approach significantly.

I agree. But in his mind wants one last hurrah with his beloved players. Hes convinced with them fit. He can do it

I love defenders like that. Get stuck in, never back down. Bring a rugby attitude to football in not ever being a pussy. I want my defenders to step on toes at corners, go face to face with whoever on the opposition thinks he’s Billy big bollocks and wind him up. And if you can’t get the ball, make sure you jostle and push and show some proper upper body strength to keep every fucker away from our goal. That’s how you defend, always like you’re 1-0 up with a minute left. Rudiger is fucking superb, love his attitude.

you could argue dias is single handily the biggest signing of pep's era at city for a player to come in and win 4 titles in a row treble 2 champions league finals to stabilise a defense that was horrendous in the 2020 and turn us into the best defence by the end of 2021 he's the reason john stones found his form to what we have seen in recent years before dias he was on his way out of the club if any other player from another team had the impact dias has had he would be up there with the best in the world why do city fans feel the need to rip our players to pieces

You make it sound like he deserves a statue among Aguero, Kompany, Silva, and KdB. Dias has been great, but nowhere near outstanding on a consistent basis, and deserves scrutiny like a lot of people are throwing at players like Akanji.

He had a fantastic debut season, followed up by two great seasons with Akanji / Walker covering him in our treble season where he was rock solid. Then he took a turn with an ok season and a collectively poor one with the rest of the team.

Currently he keeps getting ripped apart in the air, gets hung out to dry by lack of pace in the team and unfortunately seems to not have a desire to lead us. He seems strong, but the amount of times he gets pushed and outmuscled is astounding. He needs to screw his head back on because Gvardiol overall is a better player than him statistically and they are not solid together. Alternatively we need Pep to reinvent something again.

I find it a shame as I thought he would spur on and become a Kompany replacement but he clearly does not have the qualities Vincent had currently.

i'm just recognising what he's brought to this team in the last 5 years if you names our best defense dias would be in it and i'm sure all of the defenders will say dias is the one there most comfortable playing with does he have his faults yes but with out his signing pep may not of lasted as long as he has and to say he doesn't lead us is joke out of all our defenders he's the one that leads us the most and him and gvardiol aren't solid together ok then how come when dias and gvardiol partnership happened that's what sparked our push to 3rd in the table then because that started in the second half of the bournemouth game in the fa cup when you have agendas against players it clouds your judgement and only look for the negatives to suit

Mate - your posts are really difficult to read and to properly decipher without any punctuation whatsoever.

Just a big block of text with no indication where one point ends and the next begins.
