Completely agree with all of this post.
These lads are more than capable of starting in this side, It's time to let them shine! Unfortunately we'll be seen alot more of Gundogan than we will of O'Reilly and Echeverri next season.
I seen the other day that Oscar Bobb turned 22 years of age...Fucking 22. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants out looking for first team football, Most 22 year olds have 150 games plus under their belts at that age ffs.
To be honest, if we're retaining players like Gundogan and Kovacic purely for their experience, I’d argue we already have enough of that in the squad with Rodri, Bernardo, and even Reijnders. Whenever Gündoğan plays centrally, there’s a noticeable vulnerability — teams seem to cut through us with alarming ease.
I know Nico G divides opinion among some fans on here, but in my view, when he's on the pitch, we’re rarely exposed through the middle in the same way. We may concede some control in possession, but we gain a solidity that’s often lacking — and we're not being turned over more times than a politician during election season like when Gundogan is in the middle.
As for Oscar Bobb, he's been incredibly unfortunate. He had a standout pre season last season where he was arguably our best performer — and was riding a wave of momentum heading into the new season. Then the injury struck, breaking his leg and setting him back just as he was about to make a real breakthrough in the side and become a key player in this side. The arrival of new signings hasn’t done him any favours either.
But when I watch Echeverri I see something special — a bit like when Alvarez came in. He plays with that raw hunger, that bite in the final third that we sometimes lack. He gets fouled, kicked up and down the pitch — and still, he picked himself up and curls a free kick into the top corner on his first ever start. He has the mentality, the energy, and the quality to contribute right now. Typical Argentinian.
