It's Quiet the £250m return

Only if we can’t sell Gundogan and Kovacic, and if we can’t then maybe O’Reilly getting a full season somewhere would be good for him and us. I’m pretty sure the club are considering all options depending who we can move and who we can’t.
Fully agree on considering all options on which players they can move on this summer.

Having said that, holding on Gundo and moving on O'Reilly is pretty bleak even if it is a loan move.

Tell me where in the last is proven quality in depth?

Ake and Stones simply wont play enough games

Reis- hardly played so no one knows
Khusonov the same - looks good but is he world class - no
Gvardiol hasnt played a season at centre back for us.
Dias is good
Akanji - looking less able at present.

We have depth in terms of numbers but not proven quality that will be available.
Totally agree. 7 CB's sounds a lot but when you break it down 2 can't stay fit and 2 are unproven it doesn't leave a lot left.

I'm not sure we have the right profile of CB's anymore, think we lack physicality and pace. Khusanov has that but will he be trusted?

Who's going to take permanently injured players off us though? So it's probably next summer when the big rebuild with keepers and centre backs happens, with so many out of contract.

We have insane depth at CB.

Too think otherwise is just factually incorrect.
We do have depth, but it's what Ake, Stones, Dias you're going to get. None of those can play 3 consecutive games as they are made of glass. The only reliable options we have are Gvardiol and Akanji, and I feel Akanji has gone backwards. I'd honestly rather we played Reis or Khusanov next to Gvardiol than Akanji. Reis and Khusanov are both ready and should be trusted, but Pep for some reason doesn't trust them so for that reason we definitely need another CB.

We know Khusanov and Reis won't be trusted by Pep so we should look at letting go of Akanji and going for Zabarnyi at Bournemouth or as I've suggested before Guehi at Palace. They provides us youth, pace, intelligence and on the ball quality and they wouldn't cost us more than 45m.

There's absolutely no way Nico O'Reilly should be leaving this football club! He's shown numerous times that he should be starting alot of games, Like most players at City they all don't start week in week out, O'Reilly should be no different.

By the way the same applies to Oscar Bobb, another player who should be getting alot of games next season.

Rodri, O'Reilly and Reijnders as a midfield three is the way forward, Three big physical lads that boss a midfield and cover ground.

The club would need to take a long hard look at themselves if they let this lad leave.
100% this

Also cover's the LB, the last thing we need is Gvardiol at LB if Ait-Nouri gets injured or needs rotation.

Great post. Nico O'Reilly isn't a left back. He's a number 8/10. He covers so much ground and provides the athleticism and box to box profile we have been lacking for the last 12 months. He's also a goal threat, something alot of our midfield aren't.

I feel Echeverri needs a go. I'd sooner we got rid of Kovacic and Gundogan and kept Echeverri and gave him a go in the side. He doesn't need to be loaned out. He's good enough.

I'm not sure he's currently tidy enough on the ball for a Pep midfield. Doesn't mean he can't get there though.

The problem though is finding out if he can do it when he just won't get given a chance there.

Completely agree with all of this post.

These lads are more than capable of starting in this side, It's time to let them shine! Unfortunately we'll be seen alot more of Gundogan than we will of O'Reilly and Echeverri next season.

I seen the other day that Oscar Bobb turned 22 years of age...Fucking 22. I wouldn't be surprised if he wants out looking for first team football, Most 22 year olds have 150 games plus under their belts at that age ffs.

It's simple really. He's not going to start ahead of Ait-Nouri, Pep would then probably put Gvardiol back at LB or Ake and he's almost certainly not going to start in midfield.

He's young, very young a year of full team action could be what he needs. What the point in keeping him and giving him a handful of games?

I like Nico and think he's been brilliant I would even say he changed our season around but unfortunately I just don't think Pep will play him enough.
Would like to see O'Reilly in midfield playing with Rodri, he would learn a lot...it won't happen though.

Said weeks ago that I thought O'Reilly would leave.
He wasn't given a sniff in midfield and we've strengthened in there too, so it's going to be even harder to break through.

To be honest, if we're retaining players like Gundogan and Kovacic purely for their experience, I’d argue we already have enough of that in the squad with Rodri, Bernardo, and even Reijnders. Whenever Gündoğan plays centrally, there’s a noticeable vulnerability — teams seem to cut through us with alarming ease.

I know Nico G divides opinion among some fans on here, but in my view, when he's on the pitch, we’re rarely exposed through the middle in the same way. We may concede some control in possession, but we gain a solidity that’s often lacking — and we're not being turned over more times than a politician during election season like when Gundogan is in the middle.

As for Oscar Bobb, he's been incredibly unfortunate. He had a standout pre season last season where he was arguably our best performer — and was riding a wave of momentum heading into the new season. Then the injury struck, breaking his leg and setting him back just as he was about to make a real breakthrough in the side and become a key player in this side. The arrival of new signings hasn’t done him any favours either.

But when I watch Echeverri I see something special — a bit like when Alvarez came in. He plays with that raw hunger, that bite in the final third that we sometimes lack. He gets fouled, kicked up and down the pitch — and still, he picked himself up and curls a free kick into the top corner on his first ever start. He has the mentality, the energy, and the quality to contribute right now. Typical Argentinian.

Nuts if we loan out O’Reilly.

What message does it send to young players, when you work really hard to break into the first team, impress massively and then you get loaned out the next season to accommodate over the hill players who shouldn’t be here anymore.

Even more mad loaning out Echeverri, one of the most coveted young players in the world.

Another Lucas fucking Bergvall? Lmfao. Who writes this shit?
They are nothing like in style of play or quality. They are not even the same nationality.

Only thing that connects them is they both play/played for Djurgården.

We showed interest for the player in January but ultimately did not proceed with it. Nypan is much better than this guy.

Even if Kovacic and Gundogan leave and they may well, there still won’t be enough game time for Echeverri and maybe O’Reilly too to develop as well as a good loan would. The club will consider all options but loans may be the best for next season.

i'm just not joining the moaning crusade. I know what I saw from my club at the CWC, one half of football notwithstanding. We are favourites for the title.
