I think it’ll be madness for us to not give Dinho another 12 months, absolute no brainer, especially when we need to go big on striker and other positions.

Depends. Finite number of squad places plus finite wage budget. I don’t wanna keep Ferna or Kun at the expense of top signings. But if it can be done without affecting incomings then thats all gravy !

I like the idea of keeping Dinho and integrating a younger player in beside him

Surely Dinho isn’t on too big a deal and he surely wants to stay. Serg needs to go, as much as it pains me to say it.

With regards squad numbers, surely if Dinho goes we are only replacing him with another foreigner anyway.

Get Mendy out on a loan with us paying majority of wage, frees up a spot as I don’t think we need to be overly concerned about a left back this window/season - as I said the other day, we can easily cope with Zinchenko, Cancelo, Laporte and Ake covering that spot, as we’ve pretty much done all this season.

That young player could be Lavia, ideally another 12 months in the EDS would suit the kid...but he might just be worth taking a punt on.
Looked decent today but still a bit rough around the edges. Again I love Aguero and Fernandinho but they will have to go at some point so I’m mentally prepared for it they leave

Im not suggesting he doesnt have plenty to learn but that was a poor game today from Lavia, and definitely shouldnt be 90 mins on which to judge him.

Probably my excitement is influencing my thinking, but i just see something special that could be polished over the next 12 months.

Looking at the bigger picture for a second. For me Benardo, KDB, and Gundo are the 8's with Phil making up the fourth option for the 2 positions. But if for whatever reason they decide that they want another 8, then how do you make room for that player without moving Gundo to the 6? That's going to be the thinking behind Fernandinho getting another year or not. If there's an 8 coming (or indeed they want to buy another 6) then Ferna will definitely go because there will be too many bodies otherwise.

Oh 100%. There’s a good few who we should really be trying to get into the squad eventually. I’d be alright not getting a DM this year and having Rodri/Gundo and maybe even Ake or a youth player covering
