At what point do City publicly get involved? If La Liga are siding with Barça then that adds a different dimension as they have stated they’ll not release his Visa. So as the buying club surely we now need to see clarification from FIFA as to their memo about extensions. I suspect Barça know they are banged to rights with that though so now they are going down the buy out clause route as it’s their only hope of seeing any money.

Whether this ends in a free transfer or us paying Barca a sweetener to get him. I'm convinced Messi will be a City player either way. Think about it, if you were in Barca's shoes and had a player who is the highest earner, who you know isn't going to give his all and doesn't want to be at the club. Why keep him. Doesn't help Barca, doesn't help Messi.

I don't know the finer detail concerning the message Messi filmed to convey.

I do know Messi will never play for Barcelona again and this is a very dark last chapter for a club he has done so much for.

City didn't want to become publicly embroiled/portrayed as an aggressor to rip him from their grasp.

Barca, however, have chosen a different path for us to take and it is just a question of how they are now forced to submit.

We don't need to be unduly concerned, the greatest player in the world only has eyes for us and now has the weight of City behind him.

Such is the worldwide focus of this transfer, it will get done quickly enough, too many reputations to salvage.

I agree. The La Liga statement does not solve the underlying dissatisfaction of the player. Trust has been lost. Thereis no way out other than to maximise terms. That's probably underway right now, and we are just getting distracted by Tebas's stunt.

This thread is bigger than the “Boom” thread .
Cheers Tolmie

Thanks Tolmie for the update.

Hope this is resolved soon, afterall we have wolves away soon!

i absolutely trust everything that TH and everyone else is posted so this is a genuine question...

Why is the fact that La Liga posted their statement seemingly good news for us...it seemed to support what Barca are saying - ie they wont let messi go as he is contractually obligated to them for another 12 months (unless a release clause is payed)

cheers

Everyone in UEFA & G14 are rubbing their hands thinking they can use this to finally nail us. If we’re not careful- they will. They’ve failed miserably to stop our Tsunami so far but this unfortunately might be the situation they’ve been waiting for.
Do you really think after the year we have just had that the board would knowingly subject the club to a risk like that?

Cos as TH alluded to.. he won’t play for them again

But he is under contract so even that doesnt mean they will have to sell - of course it would be very difficult fo them to keep him and not play him or play him knowing his mindset (though over time with being at the club, around friends and the fans that could change his mind also)

It also means we will have to pay for him doesnt it? ((f Barca are willing to negotiate)

Some Spanish league/Barca fans on twitter still think they can reconcile and fans of other English clubs want that to be the case but the more this public bashing of Messi continues and saying he cant leave it just strengthens his desire to leave

Do you believe?
a) in fairies
b) Santa
c) Tabas
d) or all three?

After CAS we clearly have Tebas' piss boiling with the probability that La Ligas greatest asset , and lets put it in a timescale, EVER, will be joining his nemesis
He has his own problems after that disgraceful Fuenlabrada episode and subsequent cover up.
A win- win if ever there were
