I wouldn't pay too much attention to the Athletic or anyone associated with it when it comes to CitySo it's Messi and Koulibaly? I think Sam Lee hinted on twitter that signing Messi means we won't have the funds for anyone else (other than Koulibaly). So no CB or CM/DM.
Shame, but can we really complain? :)
this could even outdo the kevin debruyne thread, and that would take some doing, when he was flying in, everyone Was on flightchecker, tracking every minute of his flight, it was bluemoon at its finest
Interested in what effect all this has had on your traffic volume on your Esteemed Kompany broadcasts. Any new followers??
If we sign him, they will come.As much as I'd quite like to see Messi at City from a PR oint of view (as would the Premier League), I can't help the feeling that I'll be crushed if we do sign him but no centre-half and left-back (and perhaps midfielder).

Hasn’t it just mate! Glad you guys are well..... here’s to yet another crazy season, oh with THE worlds best player in OUR side! Just wowYeah all good this end bud, things have escalated quickly since the last time we met eh? :-)
Yep though I think Michael Hughes was once inadvertently caught in a similar situation when a transfer collapsedWouldn’t that be a restriction of trade if his contract has been terminated, which isn’t allowed in the EU?
Can’t see FIFA or any court standing for that tbh
We would have him and ake ,we dont need another oneSo it's Messi and Koulibaly? I think Sam Lee hinted on twitter that signing Messi means we won't have the funds for anyone else (other than Koulibaly). So no CB or CM/DM.

More so than an individual, but you're right to point out that it would be best avoided for sure.
Problem is, as I said, it's not entirely rational from their perspective. Bartomeu can't be seen to be cutting a deal as it'll be perceived out there as trying to save his own skin at the expense of the club (ending the debt at that end of his term). He might go down fighting rather than do the sensible thing.
Nobody knows...
Pretty sure he's returned to his home planet. We won't see him again until the next time UEFA and friends try to stitch us up.Where’s Project River when we need him! All over the CAS thread.
Ha! Loads! Honestly, from a personal perspective, Messi coming is a potential game changer. Think its actually quite a decent little example of what the club could expect in terms of the global reach increasing. I've seen a preemptive example of his impact already tbh. I usually get about 10k views a video, and im getting an average of about 20k on any Messi ones. I've had 2.5k subs in the past ten days alone, and given my channel took about 3 and a half years to get to 40k, I think that's quite telling!
your sacrifice was appreciated by all on here.I spent two weeks camped outside Wilmslow hospital, admittedly in the pub opposite :-)
But then who would keep all the drama queen's in check
As Messi is in the final year of his contract he can unilaterally terminate his contract using FIFA Article 17 and any compensation would be set initially by FIFA if the two parties don't agree(very likely!) and then by CAS if one party appeals. If, as Tolmie suggested, Messi doesn't want to give Barca a cent then this may be the avenue of last resort.I believe it is recognised by FIFA but not sure
Thank you :)Great news!
Hopefully it keeps growing, keep it up, always a good watch with so much enthusiasm.
Best of luck.
