No, I believe that it’s a wider message, I think city are kicking off the narrative of ‘galactico style money’ will not work any more.
I think there is also a view from within the club that there needs to be a bit more responsibility in times when people are losing lives, jobs, homes and pensions due to the pandemic.
Almost seems like a responsible response to current events - trying to draw a line by saying no more increase on this merry-go round.
If others follow suit it works, but it only need one club to break rank and go for it and it will fail.
Again though city are taking the right stance IMO.
I think even for a generational talent we wouldn’t go over the 100 million mark - there’s a psychological barrier set by the club I think. If we don’t get them then fine, we will carry on hoping to unearth our own.
Harlaand for 90 million yeah I see that happening but not the figures being bandied about currently with an additional 40 for intermediate parties.
