I'm starting to believe Pep about not getting a striker due to the prices. Torres also mentioned in an interview that Aguero had helped him to learn about the striker position and that he never thought he would play there but he enjoyed it. We all know paying huge amounts isn't a City thing to do and the prices for the top Strikers are a madness. Maybe we aren't prepared to gamble with the amounts of money being asked for players at the moment.

I just can't see us not signing a striker during this window. I am sure we wouldn't have announced so early that Kun was leaving, if we didn't have replacements in mind. Pep did say months ago that we wouldn't pay some of the prices being mentioned for targets. Khaldoon also said a replacement for Sergio was a priority, and he is someone that usually keeps things close to his chest, unless again we didn't have targets in mind.I'm starting to believe Pep about not getting a striker due to the prices. Bernardo started regularly in all our important games, he is valued. Laporte is too but you don't just break rhythm of a good centre half partnership in Stones and Dias.of course they are , we have too many good ones to please everyone but you dont just leave out players of this quality , pep rotates but doesnt play these two enough imo

They'll have charts showing multiple potential targets, replacements and youth players in every position for several seasons in advance. It will be updated as the situation changes. I can't shake the feeling that we may get someone like Grealish and then try someone like Torres up top or get a cheap striker that will make Bluemoon explode when he signs. I would be very surprised if we went with just those three to cover our striker position, especially as it has been mentioned by the hierarchy that a replacement for Aguero was a priority.Torres/Jesus/Delap could do for another season if it gets too difficult to get Kane. As long as we do get in Grealish
We know all too well what happens if we do not re-invest in our squad, after winning the title.

I have the confidence that we will have numerous targets out there, and then secure the best one for us. I would say similarly to how we secured Dias last season.I agree with you about wanting a striker I prefer us playing with one. The thing is about going 'cheap' on a striker - this is Aguero's replacement, not just any striker. We've let go our best ever goalscorer because we couldn't guarantee he'd be playing games. It'd then be baffling if we were to not sign a replacement in the window immediately afterwards.

Chelsea especially could do a Haaland deal, and then selling him in 3 years after he scored 100 PL goals for same amount or with a profit.
They sold Hazard for big profit and the guy turned into a cheeseburger at Real.
if we spend huge I want someone like Mbappe or Haaland with 10 good years of potential and possible resale value if things go bad.
Cannot see Levy not making it very difficult and around 125m+ for Kane who will give us 3-3.5 good seasons imo at best and then injuries can make that less too...

Agree...and I thought same with Sane, no one knows what his attitude was/is tbf, we guess basing it on alleged quotes and on on field demeanour which is a presumption.....same as 90% of players who have a serious injury, they don't hit the heights they previously did. For that reason we sold at the right time, and imo time will show we got quite a good deal.

Agree with this, some flashes of real brilliance so far for us and for Spain.
He doesn’t get involved enough in the game though and that’s something he really needs to improve on, particularly if he has ambitions of being the next Aguero. Looking forward to seeing how he kicks on but we would be daft to rely on him alone next season. A striker is essential; Pep is bluffing.
