I watched all the teams in Europe who will be seriously contending for the UCL title this weekend, and we had by far the worst performance. Truly worrying. Think PSG even with many of their new players and Neymar out still were good. Bayern with their 1-1 result were okay. Let alone the other English teams, all doing well. We were not.
Mate, we started horribly last season but we ended up with a cup, a league title and we reached the Champions league final. I think you're overreacting a bit.

I see this as a positive, a wake up call for Pep and the board to go over the line and get us Harry Kane.

Indeed. League titles. As anyone who wasn't being obtuse would have acknowledged.
Fair enough, I don’t mind admitting to misunderstanding some things sometimes, but like I said, 7 losses in the last 15 competitive games cost us the FA Cup, the Champions League, the Community Shield. Momentum doesn’t come back right away.

As I and others have said, we cannot look at last season for anything. It was peculiar in every sense. Anyone can see our rivals have gotten stronger and with fans in the stadiums, it’s not easy to play with the pace we employed last season. Furthermore, expecting to get to November to count on winning 20 in a row seems unrealistic, and probably won’t be enough in terms of points.

I remember a Tuchel quote from the end of last season, saying this season they would be hunting us in the PL from the very beginning. He knows you need to do it from the start.
There’s also that famous Pep quote that league titles you win in the first ten games and lose in the last eight, or something like that...

But you’d agree judging a team after one game is a bit premature, right ?

I said I know we will get better over time, that isn’t my concern. It’s a mix of looking at other teams, fitness and disappointment with our summer window (so far).

Psg play nobody and won 4-2 wouldn’t cal that a huge achievement imo

You're right. It doesn't. But if there's one thing this team has proven, it's the ability to go on a huge winning run, even after a relatively poor run of form.

This isn't a knock on Grealish at all as I thought he played well today and can be an important player for us if/when Bernardo and Gundogan move on...BUT for the price we paid for him we probably could have gotten Nuno Mendes AND Bissouma for the same price. Two much more pressing needs for us right now.

Add a proper striker, like Kane, and we would have aced it yesterday. Just because a couple of players had a really bad game yesterday, doesn't mean that they won't prove their quality throughout the season and contribute to scoring. We scored a lot of goals in the last couple of years without Kun in the side. I'm thinking Mahrez, Sterling and Gundogan yesterday. Chances were created and not put away (as every game against spurs for some reason). A couple of players out there hopefully will be third choice. Sure I'm gutted, lots of opportunities for the haters to have a go at us, but we started crap last season too.

At least reality has struck in the first 2 games of the season and we haven't covered it up with an easy start against cannon fodder that would have masked it. The issues are plain to see so no excuses not to fix all of them in the market by the end of August.

I’m happy to judge in September/October half the people on here thought we’d be bottom 4 by the end of September.
All will be well when the clown cars in the left defensive area are cleared out - or at least, only brought out again for cup ties against very low level opposition. Shame that they were very expensive but, never mind - we'll still win the league.

It’s not possible to fix them all this window with FFP. Looks like we have prioritised Jack & Harry.

Lb and Dm will have to wait.
