I think we can forget signing a striker of any note at this point. I highly doubt we are pulling of a high-profile transfer at this late stage. Our best hope is someone like Vlahovic who would probably jump at the chance to come here but would be a massive risk.

I honestly do not know how we have ended up in this situation. I know some on here wont have a bad word said against the club but this is a monumental fuck up. As a club we plan for transfers well in advance, so how can we have gotten it so wrong? We have signed one player this summer in a position we were arguably strongest in. The player had a release clause and wanted to come here, basically anyone on this forum could have gotten that transfer over the line.

I know the pool of players we are interested in is a lot smaller than most, because we only want top-class but are we really saying there isn't a single striker in world football than can improve our current situation of not having a striker? If our guys sat down months ago to discuss transfers and could only put the names Grealish and Kane on a piece of paper, they are absolute idiots.

dreading it, but this is currently the striker situation in the PL

rags - ronaldo, rashford, greenwood and cavani
chelsea - lukaku, werner
liverpool - salah, firmino, origi
spurs - kane, son
leicester - vardy, daka, iheanacho
city - jesus, ferran torres, delap

it pains me to say that, but at BEST we are 5th in this in terms of quality. and 4 teams have at least 1 world class striker.

I was a bit loose with "striker", mainly was trying to look for "main goalscoring outlet", whatever that might be.

We played most of last season without a recognised striker & outscored the nearest team by 10 goals. We are the best equipped team to cope if we stay with the squad as it is.

unless we break the bank for Haaland, I’d be happy with doing that. There’s 2 big problems.

One, I think some in the club will try save face-I thought that’s what entertaining Ronaldo was tbh.

Two, this was striker musical chairs and we’ve been caught without a chair. Next Summer, no elite strikers will be moving. The ineptitude on display in this window could hurt us for 3 or 4 in that dept.
