I've finally built my PC, but one problem....... (Part 4)

What TS and BE said, be very careful with the CPU, only ones I remember ever having to apply any amount of pressure to was the old P3 slot based, socket based CPU's usually drop straight in needed the slightest of taps. Make sure the clips are up on your RAM once its seated too. Does sound like a power issue though as normally you would get a POST beep like people have mentioned. It can be manufacturer dependant in some cases so check on google http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm

Is your graphics card plugged into the motherboard (even though you are using your onboard?) if the combination of your gear is drawing to much power it would fit the symptoms you are having. My last rig had an 800w PSU but that was built about 4 years ago, not done much building since then so not sure what the rough averages are so worthwhile checking before you try giving things a shove.

*edit*

Cheesey's post rung a bell also, you can get non conductive washers that sit between the m/b and the fitting posts, just had a look and I've found 6 of them if you're anywhere near Stockport and want to bob down and pick them up if its not your PSU power?

You could try taking the mobo, cpu and psu back to
where you bought them and I'm sure they will be happy
to test them for you. Don't forget to take the receipt.

As for pressure on the CPU, it was something I had to do with
my AM3 socket.

Phoned up Asus they said connect the PSU, CPU and Graphics Card to my motherboard and power it up, I did so and it fried the fuckin graphics card that belongs to a mate that let me borrow it....

I phoned up eBuyer angry (as you would expect) they said it sounds like a motherboard fault so they are collecting it and testing it their end and if it fails then they'll give me either a refund or a replacement....

When I mentioned that it's burnt my fuckin Graphics Card the guy said they can't compensate me as it wasn't bought from them and then said it was probably the power supply that blew it even though it was the same power supply that my mate used on his PC...

Fuck sake shit never goes right for me next time I'll just piss £2,000 on an awesome AlienWare PC....

Yes it did this is what I didn't understand but they insisted I connected the Graphics Card for some reason?!?!?!

Pissed off is an understatement to how I feel at the moment!!!

Then in that case its a lesson learned pal im afraid, Sorry buddy. the upside is you can pick up reasonable second hand graphics cards for £10 - £15.

If you do build again mate barebones the machine first.

PSU-MOBO-RAM (minimum)-CPU-DISPLAY

sounds dumb but a screw or anything metallic trapped under the mobo can and will short anything...not saying this was the prob but something to look out for in the future
