Jacinda Ardern

Yep, people are the problem, but that is why we need an inspirational leader. The response to a clown in charge will not be the same as the response to someone most people respect. Every single country has a significant proportion of idiots. The best leaders find a way of getting most of them onside. We’ve got Johnson.

I take your point but who could inspire the 6,000 idiots that descended on Gtr. Manchester at the weekend ?
This thread is about Ardern and as an Englishman with little knowledge of NZ politics I do have to say she seems inspirational, working mother, down to earth, in tune with the people (the terrorist attack) and I do not think we have had one leader in the last 30 years that could be said to be inspirational. That is a sad indictment of politics in the UK for all parties.

This is leadership - as Johnson would say this is "getting things done" - she had better be really careful or a lot of us will want to move there

Earthquake, mosque attack and pandemic - behave like a grown up you get respect you get re-elected - you win a landslide. I'd swap her for Johnson but why wish that fat **** on our Kiwi friends? Congratulations Ms Ardern.

Credit to her. She took the common-sense, 'populist' decisions early on in the pandemic and looking at how relatively few people have died and how relatively low their GDP has retracted, they were the right ones.

Who would have thought that shutting the borders would have helped?

Despite winning a majority so that her party could govern on their own, she is looking to form a coalition government. She is certainly talking to the Green party and wants to ensure New Zealander's are represented properly.

Sadly, Blair, Brown, Cameron Johnson could all have done that but none did.

Does our political system allow for a young vibrant politician to rise to the top so quickly or do we have to have time served older men in charge?
Same for the US, could they ever have a younger person running for president?

Blair, Cameron and Obama, whatever you might think of them all, were younger. We seem to be going backwards in that respect

Boris isn’t a FOC is he? Just a FYC.
