If you're spending 9 figures on a player he should be one of the inaugural names on the team sheet. Not a utility player. This would be a daft signing. He's technically not as good as a Foden or Bernardo. He scores goals, he can pick a pass. He isn't very quick. He's marketable and has the personality that will garner huge amounts of press. He reminds me of a very raw Lampard, but can he reach those lofty heights? Is he an improvement on what City already has? Not for me. Would the fee be worthwhile? Depends how you define what ''success'' is. Save the 100m and put it towards Kane.

I think some are taking into account the 'Pep' factor too much on this one. This reminds me of a mid/late 00's City signing. Gareth Barry tier.
Sorry to say we’re buying Kane as well.

To be fair, none of us here know what a 9 figure player should or shouldn’t do. We’ve not experienced it before. Guess we hope he’s more interested in our tactics than haircuts, emojis and silly dances.

He‘s absolutely as technical as Foden and Bernardo. What isn’t proven is his attitude and his mental acumen. He’s certainly quicker than Bernardo.

He‘s nothing like Lampard. Lampard was a player limited in footballing skills, but way ahead in mental ability to be in the right place in the right time to score a goal.

Grealish is a gamble. I admit that. He could flop with his £100m price tag round his neck. He also could move up levels and be our KDB heir to the throne when he gets too old.

Pep doesn't want too many duds. Who was the last poor signing for City over £45m?

Kane is irrelevant to your argument as he’s likely to be signed too.

Ain’t that the truth. We’d be fuming in their position; and rightly so, far too much hubris on here. Time to rein it in and quit the infantile goading of opposition sites etc. Embarrassing
Actually no we would not. Speak for yourself. I was far from being alone in never feeling any animosity towards Shaun Wright-Philips or Chelsea when he left for them. Sure it was disappointing but he owed us nothing. Grealish stayed with Villa in the 2nd Division when he could have moved on. He helped them back up and was a huge part in them staying up and then consolidating. If I was a Villa fan I'd be disappointed if he left, but grateful. Unfortunately most Villa fans are incapable of that.

100m spent on an unworthwhile signing??? Paul Pogba says hi

If we're talking mentality then Grealish wanting the last penalty in the Euro Final is indicative of the player you will be getting. You occasionally find the bright lights and expectation of a top football club can be too much for a player, but with Grealish I would expect he would know and relish it. As far as raw ability, you must have forgot that period over a year ago when Bernardo was destroying the league. Grealish hasn't shown that kind of technical ability or vision to read and dictate the pace of a game.

City fans are getting carried away that he curled one in at Stretford that one time. :p

Grealish didn’t choose which penalty he took, so that discussion is irrelevant.

We know more than you how good Bernardo is. He wants out. What can you do? Replace him.

Ravel Morrison has more raw talent than most of your central midfielders over the past 15 years.

I’ve no idea whether Grealish will be a success. He has the skills and ego to do so, but every transfer is a risk.

Sancho has the raw and physical ability to be amazing for you guys. Like Grealish, it depends on what he has behind the ears. I‘m slightly in favour of Grealish at this point, but that may be because he’s older.

You ain't that important, bud

He wears their armband, and has almost single handedly dragged them out of the Championship and into mid table. The intense media focus on him also proves his mental strength - i have no concerns about his attitude.
I’m on your side. I think he can be a revelation here. He hasn’t done it at the highest level yet though and won’t be the biggest fish in the pond.
