I think he's very talented, I think he works hard, I believe that in a football capacity he has a good attitude and work ethic, I think he has the capacity to improve under a top coach etc, I think he's happy to work for the team etc etc. Given his interviews I think he'd love to play for City too. However, I still wouldn't want to sign him because we simply don't need a player of his position/role. With De Bruyne/Gundogan/Foden/Bernardo (not to mention a possible incoming Messi) it leaves us far too overcrowded in that area if he signs. A Grealish type player is as necessary as us signing another CB ie it's not.

Maybe things could change in the next couple of years and we'll need a guy like Grealish in which case I'd welcome him with open arms, but right now, no we shouldn't sign him in my opinion.

Spot on. He is a good player and would probably get better in a team like ours.

However, the last thing we need at the moment is another midfield player, even if Pep would like to play with ten of them.

A replacement for Sergio has to be top priority.
 
There should be no argument regarding his ability and work rate.

With Bernardo returning to form and Foden’s rapid rise to one of the league’s best creative players, I question if he’s truly needed though.

I’d prefer to see us focus on a left back, a combative midfielder and a striker (or two).
 
This is a priority for me more so than a striker. Gundy won’t play like this next season & we will loose fern. We will be short in midfield. Jesus & Torres can fight it out for no 1 striker although I would like a top goal scorer ASAP. midfield will be an issue (unless messi joins us)

ideally grealish, messi & a striker will do nicely

Poor Gundogan he gets slagged off for years (not/never by me) then he is in the form of his life scoring for fun . Then “he won’t play like this next year “
Re Grealish I quite like him but for me a striker is a must. But Pep will decide

We mightn't activate the clause.
For the sake of a few million might be better to keep a good relationship with Villa if we do want to go for Grealish or some other player in the future

Why? Is their chairman a spoiled brat? They obviously agreed to the clause. Or was there a disclaimer that came with it that went like you had better not actually use it!

why? when they can easily get a double deal or a player in return, the same way Cancelo/Danilo worked.

Why we'd even want Luiz back other than to sell him on is the more pressing concern.
