Well, once again it is the Daily Fail and may be trash, and while there are very few potential English signings that are genuinely exciting prospects, Rodwell is among the best prospects our country has alongside Wickham, McEachran, and Wilshere.

But where would we play him? United apparently want him to replace Scholes but I'm sure Moyes planned to convert him to centre-back, feeling that would be his ideal role.

If Slur is planning a 15m offer, we could easily outdo him, leaving him to possibly go for the inferior Jordan Henderson... but are we really in for him?

Manchester City will slug it out with rivals Manchester United in a battle to sign Everton star Jack Rodwell.

Sir Alex Ferguson's 'noisy neighbours' have the financial power to put his proposed £15million offer in the shade.

Ferguson wants to buy the 19-year-old this summer as a replacement for Paul Scholes.

But City's Roberto Mancini is also an admirer of England Under-21 midfielder Rodwell, and enquired last summer.

Financial pressures could force Everton manager David Moyes to sell, despite having extended his prize asset's contract until 2015.

How good is this lad?

Don't think he is a regular in Everton's 1st team so not sure if we would buy him to sit on the bench or that he would be happy with that.

No substance to this story as usual. However, would the finances at our disposal be enough to get him through the door?

Gollam is a Taggart pschophant and would no doubt exercise some influence if for no other reason than to:
a) Point score with his wankfest
or
b) Continues to sulk over the Lescott fiasco?

Great potential though and could provide the spark needed in the middle to aide David Silva.
