I don’t see a problem with that, he will be getting game time for the best team in the world, training with them every day. I would have loved to see Palmer get more game time last season in his natural position, but I think he will be a better player now due to having to adapt to playing out on the left. He’ll go on loan this season and hopefully rip it up where ever he goes and comes back to us a far better player. In a few years we could have Foden, Palmer and McAtee all starting for City. That should be the aim. It won’t be the case of just chucking them in, it will be slow progress, just like it was for Phil. It’s tougher to break through into this City team now than it was back in 2017, Pep knows his players inside out and the likes of Palmer and McAtee have to prove to Pep that he can trust them.Played 25 games sounds good, but he had 2 starts in the Premier league and was subbed off in one of them, 1 start in the champs league subbed again, it will probably be the same kind of thing with mcatee,
you are not alone in looking forward to McAtees development... i tried to follow Sheff U and Burnleys progress last year and I was very impressed with the turn around McAtee did during his season from a calf on green fields to a player that was more direct and mature at the end of the season. Hope he will get enough time to SHOW what he can be! Like Foden has grown over the last couple of seasonsIt was good to see James training in Japan earlier today. He has a very distinctive style and is clearly an exceptional talent. I love watching him play and I am reminded of how I felt when I first started watching David Silva play. There was a magic and such style to his play. I know James has a long way to go but I would love to see him develop into a valued member of our first team squad this season. It will be very interesting to see how much time he gets on the pitch in the upcoming friendlies.
