James McAtee

He played LW in training today.
I am a little surprised by that as LW seems one of the positions that is absolutely nailed down by the incumbent. I thought from what was being practiced in the training video with his personal coach looked as if it was for a player wide on the right. In terms of our current squad that might be where he best opportunity lies despite him not really being a winger

Training video showed Grealish and McAtee as LWs, Bobb and Palmer as RW.

Bernie and Foden played in the middle.

We have too many RW players potentially (Bernje, Foden, Palmer, McAtee, Bobb) so I can see this just being a training thing.

I would absolutely love it if that is the replacement for Mahrez. A risk, yes, but I think that James, Palmer and Bobb will prove extremely able, and Phil in the middle will be a destroyer.

If it is true that we turned that £30 million for a player as young as this, who has almost no experience playing at the top level, it is one hell of an article of faith in him. I can't remember a similar case involving an EDS player.

I think I remember reading very recently — can't remember where, sorry — that a transfer's been agreed for him. I don't think it was even a loan. It was a transfer.

Edit: well, seems I was wrong, because Bobb's on the bench in the friendly in Yokohama. Fine city, Yokohama. Good port city. Feels quite different to Tokyo, even though it's adjacent.

I hope this is a load of shite because I would love to keep him around. The squad is thin as it is, and I think he can make it with us this season.

It is a load of shite, no way is McAtee in anyway going to be a replacement for Bernardo.

An accurate position could be once we know for certain the squad for next season, a decision would be made to what we felt was best for his development.

I imagine Sheff United will take him on deadline day, if we offered. However, if he is going to play for City he is playing in a team with the emphasis on winning and dominating play. I’m not sure we would view Sheff United being quite as good of an option as last despite being in the Prem.
