James McAtee

Yeah, I think Bobb can be great.

But I also think it’s about expectation.

Palmer and McAtee should expect many minutes at this stage.

Bobb doesn’t, so he is easier to convince to stay.

On the plus side, Bobb is very similar to Bernie on the RW, and if we lose Bernie in like 2 years, then Bobb is the natural replacement. Assuming he progressed over these 2 years.
While I agree with this, and @FantasyIreland 's post, I also think Oscar is potentially the better player. We will see, by the look of it, and it is also true that he is already 20, so older than when James and Cole first came in to the the first-team squad.

I don't think Bobb's (damn, I can't type that without a Blackadder accent) position is going to be on the wing.

I see him like Bernie. Attacking mid or wing, multi-purpose.

Especially if Walker or Lewis overlaps, they basically are a midfielder.

I agree. He reminds me of Bernardo and David - a creator in the final third, with vision, control and passing ability. I think he can play wide but will be more effective centrally. He is young and inexperienced though, so will need time, minutes and patience.

I suppose, but I think palmer for instance would have played and become a first team we if he had stayed/ been given more chances last season
As we won the treble id say we picked the players required, he needed patience he didn't have it , good luck to him warming the bench at Chelsea instead winning nothing

I don't think McAtee's loan is a sign that we don't rate him. It pains me a bit to say it because I'd love to see him get minutes but I think he'll develop quicker playing a lot. At Sheffield United he doesn't need to learn the system and he'll be a first team regular from the outset without needing to prove himself again. And it'll be premier league experience which is hard to come by. We'll have a much better idea by the end of the season whether he has what on it takes to play at City or have a good career elsewhere. Can't wait to see how he gets on!

Always makes me laugh how impatient fans are on young players.

The lad is 20 and we are treble winners and the best team in the world.

We’ve just signed a 25 year old who at 20 had 18 Portuguese appearances to his name. Mcatee has 49 English appearances to his name.

He gets 25+ games in the Premier League he will come back a 21 year old with nearly 75 Premier League and Championship games.

Every young player has a different pathway, they can’t all be a Foden who is not only generationally talented but his route to the first team was easier.

I'll be honest, I don't quite see it with McAtee and doubt he'll end up quite good enough for us. I hope I'm wrong.

I think this is a bad move for him if he hopes to make it at City. While he's away in a struggling side, Oscar Bobb is training with the first team and has the chance to make the most of it and get chances here and there. I expect that by the end of the season Bobb will have jumped him in the queue.

If all goes well for McAtee there though he should at least have a few better teams wanting to sign him next time round. If it's his overall career he's bothered about rather than a career at City, the move could still do him a lot of good.
