Jason Denayer

I feel Mangala was the issue, he was suppose to go on loan to Valencia but then was part of a defence that did not concede for the first 5 games, making us reconsider. It was Denayer who was then sacrifaced despite being told he would be fourth choice. In retrospect Demi should have been the one to go, but if you where to see the thread when he signed the one year extension most on here considered it to be a good idea as he was our most in form defender at that point.

It's easy to forget that the last 6 games of last season involved MDM and Mangala playing in what looked a very solid defence with a run of clean sheets. Binning him off after that would not have gone down well on here at all. The reason Denayer went on loan was because we signed Oto, something that went down very well on here! We had agreed with Denayer that if we brought in a 4th CB he would be allowed to go on a season loan, this was an arrangement linked to him signing a new 5 year deal last summer - again something that went down very well on here.

So pellers get's a load of flak because of decisions that were all seen as good ones at the time? shame he doenst have a crtystal ball like some of the bluemooners!!!
I like a well balanced post.

Good enough to start for the Number 1 team in International Football but not good enough to considered as one of the 4 Central Defenders at the start of the season. MP's loyalty to MDM was/is beyond a joke.

He started in a friendly for a team with their three main defenders in Kompany, Vertonghen and Alderweireld all missing from the squad.

Just for perspective, Dedryck Boyata was on the bench and came on for him.

Yeah, i thought that may be the case. But irrelevant of the fact the Belgian Team may not of been at full strength he's still considered an adequate replacement when we (or rather MP) didn't - Either he's blindly loyal to MDM or genuinely incompetent, i believe both to be the case tbh. Can't wait until we have a Manager who actually puts faith in good, young players. Roll on June.
Demechelis played 90 for the number 2 ranked team in a competetive match last night for what its worth. In hindsight Denayer would have been the better option but I don't remember any huge uproar when Demechelis signed his extension. He's obviously not blindly loyal to Martin as he is Pellegrinis 4th choice, so he can see he isn't the player he was.

All that is is Ronaldo doing some fancy stepovers, not actually going anywhere, and then Denayer blocking it when he tries to pass to someone.

No embarrassment at all.

I don't think you can really call that a block. The ball went to the player he tried to pass it to.

Small deflection.
