This belief that he is used to a slow, unphysical, possesion based game is utter nonsense. He came to fame playing for Benfica, who don't remotely play like that. Despite the common belief, Portuguese football is nothing like Spanish football. They play all out attack with vast amounts of runners from midfield. He was at his best playing as the holder, giving Gaitan, Witsel, Salvio, Bruno Cesar and co the licence to fly forwards, along with both fullbacks. The problem he's had so far is that unlike Witsel, Yaya has made no attempt to get back or help out defensively, meaning he's gotten overloaded.

You simply cannot play a midfield 2 if one of them isn't defending, it will make the one player chasing shadows look poor, while the lazy guy is strolling around so far away from the play they avoid the blame. Let him play alongside someone with energy like Fernandinho, Rodwell or Milner, or play him in a midfield 3, then he can be a top player for us, but if we hang him out to dry playing in a two with Yaya then he'll get continue to get exposed

This.

Reading through this thread it looks like the majority of the supporters have given up on him. If Pellegrini sees something worth keeping then I will back his judgement only.

Hasn't Pelle sold him in the past at a previous club?

Real's sporting Director did and that was down to them signing Xabi Alonso.

Hope people watched Spain v Uruguay last night. Even in ridiculous playing conditions Busquets still managed to be great. Compare skillsets and performances over the course of the confederations cup and you'll see why Garcia has his time up here. We need a Busquets, not a Garcia.

Very this. You only have to watch the FAC final, Garcia didn't play, and neither did Yaya, and GBaz was on his own and constantly pressure as a result. At the time I thought Gaz was awful, but watching it back, he did as well as he could whilst Yaya strolled around the grass picking fluff out of his belly button

but there is only one Busquets and he plays for Barcelona and he's a really terrible actor (and it looks like Garcia is staying here for at least one more season - sadly.)

Definitely not this.

If we made Garcia available today, do you think any our major premier rivals or the top CL teams would be falling over themselves to get him?

To all those doubting javi, I really hope he stays and does really good to prove you all wrong. I personally believe he will do well and I have faith in him.

You can really just change the name and apply this to Dzeko, maybe in the past to Barry, and now probably to even Sinclair. :D

I hope so too, to be negative about any of our players is counter productive, he has plenty of experience he could be very valuable this season!

this.

He definitely deserves to stay, I don't see what he did wrong really. In his position he's not going to set the world on fire and he was great for Benfica. Give him the time to adjust which he now has had and with a new manager I think he'll come good.

We tried but Barca told us to fuck off.

Since he seems to get slagged every time he has a bad game (and just any time, really), I thought someone should acknowledge what a great game he had in the mud on Saturday. Barely put a foot wrong all game and cleaned up everything in the middle.

He was a very very good player before we signed him. The Premier League appears too quick for him, in City's previous system anyhow, but if he can adjust then he will be useful. Gareth Barry is better than him in that role though. Tbf Garcia offers more aerial strength. So it's all about balance on the day.

I dont think hes quick enough for the premier league, hes too one paced, doesn't intercept or anticipate danger, best asset is his aerial ability.

As a centre back he does
