Javier Tebas named to UEFA's Executive Committee

CVC are a US private equity fund registered in Luxembourg. You may remeber them buying a big chunk of Formula One. Big rows followed that too. Dont know if they still own any of it.
Their investors are institutional such as pension funds etc.
Funny how all these US private equity firms are trying to capture sports globally.

I thought it was the 3-digit number on the back of a credit card. If they get a cut of every transaction they’re definitely rolling in megabucks!

Get into a business bed with Americans and you will not be smiling the morning after. Ask the rags dippers and arse fans.

Who are CVC and who exactly are the 300 investors worldwide. It would be very interesting to find Javier Tebas had any holdings with them.

The deal would be for 50 years and make CVC nearly 300b, with a initial investment of Under 3b.

Seems like a shit deal for La Liga
Theyve invested in Pro14 and Premiership Rugby....and recently the 6 Nations......they say they invest to broaden and develop the sports...but theres always a price im sure...

Correct. One or two companies around here had their pension funds emptied. too following US acquisitions. Always benefits them not you.
Aye in the good old days we could rely on the likes of Robert Maxwell to raid the pension funds. Now they have to get the Americans to do it.

CVC are playing a clever game - huge upfront cash injection - massages the egos of incumbent Board members - they can invest these sums into the business - and play the hero. Longer term after they have buggered off the Company repays that initial cash injection hundreds of times over - they have affectively sold future incomes. Short term these deals look attractive long term they are awful - but to some only the short term seems to matter. Many of these types of schemes roll up all sorts of fees and payments - so incumbents often get very well rewarded for selling their (or more accurately their organisations) soul.
