According to various people Jim has left the club. If this is true just want to wish him all the best. Responsible for a lot of hope at City when we really had no right to hope for anything other than more mediocrity.

Me too. As you say, there was a time when the Youth Team was all we had to cheer us up. Just a pity that the likes of Sturridge didn't stay and/or develop. Not Jim's fault, of course. Good luck to him and thanks.

Re: Jim Cassell

Indeed sad if true. A fine asset during hard times. I'm sure a number of professionals have Jim to thank for helping to launch their careers. All the best Jim.

Re: Jim Cassell

A poduction line equivalent with anything during his spell in charge of the academy. Despite what some numpties will claim about it being over rated because it didn't produce a string of genuine world class players. They can't name a single English club academy that has - barring a lucky spell at Old Trafford - or many that just produced as many decent quality professionals.

Another shocking decision by Leslie. Although just as shocking was the amount of City fans he successfully hoodwinked into fully supporting him on the issue through his usual tactic of getting his mates in the press to savage someone at his own club to deflect blame from himself.

Indeed. It would be nice to have some stats on the number of working professionals who came through the academy whilst Jim was in charge. A comparison with other academies would then allow a reasoned judgement.

Re: Jim Cassell

He was pushed out of his job in 2009 I think into some made up job title for no reason which was sad to see.

I am not surprised he has been completely let go now as its pointless him being in his "head of overseas academy coaching" or something role.

Not surprised whats happened to the youth academy coaches though.
Our academy is filled with "the next Vieira/Silva/Ronaldo" at all age groups and they just aren't getting results consistently.

This is a clear move now though that Txiki is putting his stamp on the club, better to move now though and have the staff working with the young lads before we move into the new academy.

Nothing against Jim Cassells but at the end of it did he really bring anything more than hope?
