Which CB should we have gone for who was avail and wanted to join us?

Names don’t pop out but there are players out there. The CB at Leicester Soyuncu looks very good player and 12 months ago many had not heard of him. Really don’t think there was a need to spend such a large amount of money on a back up RB when it was clear to all what our priority was.

We didn't spend 60m on a RB.

Agree that figure that is quoted is BS. But we still spent big on him when that position was not a priority. Yes we have been unlucky with injuries but there was already big question marks over Otamendi and Stones.

We had a RB who wanted out, and the club he wanted to go to needed to sell one of the best young RB's in the world to balance their books. Paying 26m to upgrade from Danilo - who pep never seemed to fancy - to someone who could be our first choice for a long time is a great piece of business.

Let’s see. Personally not convinced he will be good enough as our first choice RB (as he wasn’t at Juve - or for Portugal).

Bar the occasional game, he's been Portugal's starting RB since the world cup in 2018. He was also probably Juventus' best player in the first half of last season, and dropping him and going to an ultra conservative style is a major reason the manager lost his job.

Thought Semedo has been Portugal’s first choice RB for the last year....I Just noticed he has been left out of the Portugal squad for the upcoming internationals.... anyway I’m not convinced but let’s hope I am wrong.

Well, let's be honest, it wasn't clear at all else the club would have acted. I know this is a forum and that is a stock reply, but no matter how you want to look at it, the club did not share this need.

Maybe, they had greater concerns over Walker than meets the eye?

As for CB, this is a specialist role we have and someone looking good for another club, is not how Txiki et al will conduct their assessment for potential recruitment
