He had a good game. A much better footballer than Kyle.
Pretty good overall, but twice today he made the exact same mistake as he did against Wolves, a loose inside pass to no one that gets easily intercepted.
All 3 were identical, and 1 ended the game against Wolves, 1 lead to a dangerous counter today and 1 got snuffed out.
He has to cut that out of his game or he won't be playing regularly ahead of Walker.
Starting to look the business!
Miles better than Walker.
This guys got goals in him. Was a real threat today and did the business defensively. Looked really good.
Looked settled in his own game for the first time yesterday. Did quite well, some erratic passing but everyone in the team apart from Ederson did some of that.
To be fair, Eddie did put one pass out from the back in to touch.
I’ll never forgive him.
We could have afforded both
I think we forget that Walker can't defend either
He’s a physical phenomenon with world class pace / acceleration that never gets injured at 6 feet tall. In a Guardiola side that’s all you really need from a defensive standpoint at fullback.
Once Joao settles I think he’s an upgrade in totality but from my perspective it’s incredible what Walker does and that’s coming from somebody who wasn’t worried at all about conceding with Fern/Rodri in the place prematch thread.
It’s a shame that we never really had any attacking threats from the two positions under Pep. Really hoping Mendy stays fit and Joao can adapt quickly.
