João Félix

It speaks to him not handling the step up in quality from Portugese to Spanish league. And it shows his lack of adaptability.
When have we signed someone under Pep who struggled somewhere but has come and been good for us?
Doesn't mean he can't, if we buy him then we'll see. If we buy him it will be because Pep thinks he has what we need. I think he has too.

The others didn't cost £113,000,000..in fact they didn't even cost that much combined.

Falcao - 40mil
Griezmann - 24mil
Costa - 800k
Suarez - free

Yes Felix has age on his side but you don't pay that kind of money for someone to come good 4 years down the line. He should be performing now instead he sits on the bench behind Angel Correa. He scored 20 in 43 for Benfica and Atletico went and paid out like he was putting up Haaland numbers. He made 9 appearances in Europe that season and scored 3 goals, all in 1 game vs 10 man Eintract Frankfurt. 8 other games he was shit, Benfica with one of the biggest heists in modern football.
Welcome to 2022 where grealish costs 100 mil and felix even more...

Cancelo...who is also Portuguese ironically. Maybe its a stretch to say he struggled but Juve let him go on the cheap so he mustn't have impressed Allegri too much.

I think we paid nearly £60 million for him?.....people only think he was cheap because Danilo went the other way and the net cost was £27m...is that right?

He didnt really struggle at Juve.. a bit up and downs. He struggled Valencia though, but that was erlier in his career and he didn't go directly from there.

Its a valid concern though for Felix, and I can't really think about anyone not working out somewhere (other club) that Pep has taken on.. (But maybe that has more to do with City generally not buying from the biggest clubs recently perhaps, Rodri and Cancelo a bit of exceptions)

Edit: Danilo was one to those, didnt do too well at Real Madrid but I thought he did his job very well at Man City actually and then hes done well at Juve as well. Its a tricky one.

e2: Thiago might come into this conversation as well.. he didnt really have a spot at Barca understandably with that midfield and was far from the player he later became under Pep and later on at Bayern. Bayern initially loaned Coman from Juve as well..

In his Barca-era I can find no one really though. Piqué? He was dirt cheap though lol
