João Félix

I got excited when I saw so many new posts... oh well back to checking the forum every hour

Those 2 goals were something to note yesterday and under pressure late to come back.

I hate to say this but I don't think we can get Haaland or Mbappe as they probably want Spain.

He is actually much closer to an Aguero replacement like-for-like in some ways when younger (even plays for Atletico lol) and can play across the front three or even deeper which Pep will love (if he stays).

Will cost a lot, as Atleti paid 100m+, but he's the only other more proven clinical striker I can see us maybe getting is Kane.

I'd like us to get a bigger striker with technical ability like a Kane, but his injury record and cost will be even more bananas because of his contract, being HG and Levy.

Daka is another one now as well, and maybe the other most realistic option for that type.

His buildup play this year so far is massively improved but other than yesterday not a lot of goals, but Atleti don't play a style that suits him if you ask me.

Was poor in the last CL match against Bayern and the last few La Liga matches though, so consistency is a question mark. He's young so that's also likely a factor (only 20).

I am sure Txiki is monitoring him quite closely this season as he is absolutely an option for us at striker and we know we've tried to sign him before.

Only problem is he has signed a monster contract at atletico and atletico might not be willing to let him go. I don't see us paying 120M+ for him too.

Not a hope in hell we will sign him, or anybody of his ilk, either January, next summer or anytime thereafter.

City won't spend over £70m for ANYONE, so I would forget of ever seeing a true top star replace Aguero, De Bruyne (when it comes to it), D Silva, Fernandinho etc.

what ilk are you talking about. What has he done to suggest he is worth the 126m euros atletico paid or his 350m euros release clause.

People just don't want to accept the fact that this guy hasn't turned out as they expected. He might have been a monster in PES/FIFA but in reality well....... I just don't see why we would be going in for him.
What are you talking about? He's six months older than Phil Foden, it's way, way too early to say that. He looked great at the start of last season, injuries ruined the rest, and now he's back to looking great. He's one of the most talented young players in Europe.

Have you got anything at all positive to say on any thread. You have been negative in the last three threads in the transfer forum that I have been in to read. What are you getting out of it, none of your comments are constructive so are you just a wum or just a very sad individual?

I like Felix a lot.

I'm surprised though that Atletico spent so much money on him - I thought that Atletico's model was to develop players and then sell them on.

Having spent so much on Felix - will Atletico be willing to sell him at a reasonable price?

As others have remarked, Felix's offensive potential isn't fully realized at a club like Atletico... which must have been known when they purchased him.

What was Atletico's thinking when they purchased Felix - long term player - or plan to sell him on for much more money after a season or two - or maybe something else?

I don’t blame atletico at all, The full blame for me lasts on joao felix. I know most likely it is because of his greedy agents that believed he would have been able to move on from atletico for a higher price so they can get more commission. There were reports his agents got 30%(36m) out of his sale. But there is no way people did not warn him about atletico not being the right choice for his career.

100% agree.

It's still a mystery to me, though, why Atletico - unless I've grossly misunderstood their financial model - would spend so much money on... well, frankly, any player - and in particular on a player who doesn't seem to fit their system.

I really don’t know for them but I think that summer they made a lot of money from sales. 240m from griezmann, rodri and hernandez alone so maybe they had too much money and didn’t know how to spend.

I would definitely still take joao felix here because I believe he is special, his decision making in the final third at such a young age is exceptional. But he signed a fucking 7 year contract at atletico with 350m release clause.

I'd take Joao in a heartbeat too... at some sort of reasonable price as you suggest.

But at 350M - no one is going to bid on him - as you rightly point out.

Put a £100m bid in for him, you never know, I know they'll fuck us off but it might give the player ideas about doing one. Nowt to lose

Yeah. He still has a 6 year contract and atletico would not want to sell now. They would want at least what they paid for him, which I am not sure he has justified at atletico yet.

Our only hope to get him soon is if they are desperate for cash from next year because covid is fucking with their finances.

They're already in trouble at the group stage of UCL... one can hope :-)

I don’t think they would sweat over that even if they don’t make it out of group stage, but they are in a good position right now though, they lost to only Bayern.

when they would be worried is if they don’t make champions league next year but it is almost impossible that they dont. I should probably talk about us cause right now we are in bottom half. Lol imagine we don’t make champions league next year, our finances would be fucked though

Another clinically finished goal from open play and cool exceptionally placed penalty today.

Regarding what Atleti paid for him as a "barrier"

They sold Griezmann for €120m / £107m

Then bought Felix for €126m / £113m

That's only a €6 loss (fee wise)

They don't need to sell for €150-200m because they didn't register any kind of real loss and gained another valuable asset for the team and to sell later.

So even selling for less than what they bought him could earn a huge profit.
