Jo was bought before the takeover and he did have a good record :-

He arrived at the Club with a record of 44 goals in 77 games for CSKA after joining them from Corinthians in 2005.
During his time in the Russian capital, Jô helped CSKA to two Super Cups and a Premier League and cup double in 2006.

Wow that is a huge return in goals to games ratio! But wonder what happened to him? He is only like 23 or something?

Poor scouting. Was never a good fit. He is tall, but not physical. Fluid, but not skillful. A softer Adebayor really. But we must have been blinded by his goal production. That and having the money to upgrade did him in. Had we spent our last dime on him, we would have given him more opportunities, and he would have eventually succeeded. he is a cerebral player with a good feel for the game. Just not as physical inspite of his height and we didn't get that.
