"There is no chance of us signing him in January. We asked the question and they said that won't happen. We never had an option from City to buy him.

"He has the comfort of knowing City really want him and he is part of their future."

The Scot believes Hart could still be with Birmingham next season if Roberto Mancini, who recently replaced Mark Hughes at the helm, agrees to another loan deal.

"Joe Hart remains a big part of the future. But you couldn't rule out that Joe stays with us in the summer.

"They said he was going out for experience to improve and he has improved. It doesn't preclude him from coming back and we can negotiate with City for another year."

Sorry if already posted :)

I hope Hart remains at City, what is he, 22, he's got years to progress and develop, they say goalies get better after 25. he'll get his chance, no question.

Great to see him doing well at Brum. He's by far the best English goalkeeping prospect so I'd be amazed if we ever sell him. He can play 1st team football in the PL while on loan and can come back more permanently in a couple of years or if Shay gets injured.

Physically and technically superb keeper who just needs to get his head right but at 22 he's got plenty of time...

I think he will stay there for another season tbh, Given isnt going to be leaving any time soon
Thats the ideal scenario I think, by that time Given will be 35/36, which is still a good age for a GK but Hart will be mid 20's and determined to be our number 1! And for a season we'll have 2 great GK's battling out, may the best one win.

Its also useful for Hart to be at Birmingham in so far as due to Prem loan rules he is not allowed to play against us. Therefore, one of our rivals has to manage without an important player against us, but use him against all the other Premiership sides.

There stand in keeper played his socks off to impress the boss against us, so it doesn't always work for us..

What?? Bizzare post to say the least.

It is clearly working, Imo Joe Hart should be England's NO1 for the WC he is playing that well, he is our player now and I imagine he will be for the foreseable future

I think you have misunderstood the other poster tbh.

He was meaning that if Hart cant play against us it would weaken Brum, but it didnt because Taylor played out of his skin.

0-0 if i recall.

Cracking news that there isnt even a sniff of an option for Brum to buy - wouldnt mind him going back on loan for another season though, he is really starting to excel there, can only benefit City in the long term.
