That's not the point he's making though - he's just saying that if you've just been told you're not good enough at something, chances are you won't be smiling about it.
Sure it's hardly the end of the world for him, but it's a bit humbling and possibly embarrassing. We can't judge his feeling on a few stills, or few seconds of footage. I bet I could photograph any match going fan over the course of a match and make them look mad / sad / angry / upset

Joe is a professional athlete. A "redundancy notice" to him is very different scenario than someone living in the real world. Athletes are regularly sent packing -- it is a part of the job. Hell, in many sports in the US, the players don't even have a say in the matter. They may get sent to another team without even knowing about it until the transaction is final.

There are two ways to approach this situation and he's not doing so in a very professional manner.

Just watched Bravo in the Supercoppa match. He didn't have much to do but when he did have he did it rather well. I think we'll be alright if he comes as Joe's replacement.

I agree, I've been saying it all day - that's life in sport - hero one day, villain the next, and you can be out the door.
But with regard to him smiling / frowning or whatever, he really can't win. People will interpret the slightest body language in all manner of ways, and with the press taking hundreds of images, they can cherry pick whichever images suits their narrative. They can make make him (or Pep) look how they choose.
The press made Loew look silly with his finger smelling by selectively capturing a few seconds of footage!

If he see's our goalie as being detrimental to his efforts then its his job to tell the powers that be that he needs to replace him

No-one should tell the manager which players he should keep or get rid of, its his decision.

Many times last season we criticised Joe's distribution. Pep doesn't like the "long ball" hoof up the field into no-man's land. Joe should recognise that his distribution needs heaps of work and he should be knuckling down to improve it and learning "the Pep way". If he shows the right attitude and application then there will be a place for him with us - if not he'll go - and that saddens me as he has some great qualities that have saved us many, many times.
