It does fit a Pep pattern of making very decisive decisions on playing staff early on his tenure at a club.

Some of it will undoubtedly simply send a signal about who is in charge. It is no coincidence that the players he sells are often big characters.

I will be surprised if Joe is leaving purely in ability terms. Pep will have had the inside track for a good while.

Not really, just trying to understand why things are as they are
Well I suppose like in life there really only two explanations...
1) since the birth of Joe the infinitesimal different possible choices and evolutions through his life have culminated in his current predicament.
2) A higher power or deity has deemed it so with a plan bigger and beyond any of us.

Joe's ability and lack of faith from Pep don't necessarily go hand in hand though.
True and it seems even when Pep says he rates Joe's abilities but if he stays he will need to improve the parts of his game that's needed for a GK in Pep's system or he wont play, some of the long standing Joe doubters want to dismiss it as "press talk"(he doesn't simply tell them what they want to hear he's not that type of manager/person).

If he says he rates Yaya's abilities but sells him and says that it was more down to being able to keep up the work rate for the team than a lack of ability, nobody will question that... same goes with Nasri too. It's a shame everything's so black and white with Joe for so many fans.

Both are shite at passing.

The reason Caballero is playing is because he is staying at the club.

The reason Caballero is staying is because he is probably willing to be No.2 whereas Hart is not.

I can't understand how people still haven't grasped this yet.

It really is as simple as that. Pep doesn't fancy him. Letting Hart play a few games making him think he's number one when he's bringing in someone else in would be shitty.

I am a bit gutted - think Joe is a very good keeper and could get better with good coaching...with the added bonus of being a having a good bond with the fans now. But Pep thinks otherwise.

3) The roll on deodorant headed **** is jealous that Joe has a sponsorship deal with Head & Shoulders while all he gets offered is Mr. Sheen.
