I predict they will love him
Hello Torino fan here.
If a first class goalkeeper comes from a team strong as City (used to battle to win the league and to play every year in CL) to a team like ours, with a big history but that nowadays can't compete with top teams and in the first interview he says, with big humility, that he came to learn, how can we not love him? He seems to be a real man.
I read your comments and most of you seem to be a little bit sad he's gone, probably he symbolizes the soul of your team, having played so many years for City, but I'd like to say that he will be in good hands. Torino has a big history characterized by a big tragedy when the team which won 5 leagues in a row, unbeaten in home games for 6 years and giving 10/11 players to the national team died in a plane crash. The legend of that team is passed from generation to generation and it made us very proud and passionate fans. If a player is not a man (one random name? Someone like balotelli...) we don't like it even if it's strong, if a player is a man, we open our heart to him. He is already very rich. My opinion is that, on one hand, he made a choice about the quality of life (Turin is a quiet town, one our of car you get to the sea or to the mountains and the snow, italy is good for weather, food, culture) and, on the other hand, he wants to test himself in a team that is not a top one, but for history and playing attitude has its main characteristics in never surrendering, always fighting, honor the shirt you wear. We know what is suffering, we don't win a league since 40 years, but we are very proud. I think you exactly know what i mean, when I was younger and watched your league I identified myself with you, long time suffering and sharing the town with a winning team......maybe one day we will have your same luck and will be champions again. When I watched that aguero last second goal when you won the league after ages, the people going mad and crying (I especially remember a man of more or less my same age, I'm 46, in the pitch, on his knees, exhausted, crying and laughing all together and it was clear that he was a city fan since always and was getting paid for suffering so many years, like a person who really deserves something from life because he earned it with is passion) my skin was chilling, you got what I wait after 32 years every sunday in the stand (curva maratona) shouting for my team. I think that we understand each other as fans.
I'm sure he will keep a great memory of this experience and I can't wait to go to the stadium to support him.
Thank you for the patience sorry I've been quite long and my english is not so good.
I hope you have a very good season and..f**k juventus!
