Joe Royle - has he been acknowledged enough?

The Promotion season under Joe royal was one of the most enjoyable as a City fan, 30 years of hurt under Swales was gone and for once we had momentum and genuine hope.

The blackburn away final game one of the best away days ever, I will always look back on that day fondly, incredible atmosphere and on pitch celebrations
My dad said he'd never seen so many blues in one place. Love watching it back and seeing the blues on the hill.

Happy birthday Joe and thanks

Cost me 120 quid to get a ticket in their main stand from a tout , best money I have ever spent, as said fond and special memories of the whole day.

Other than the "Aguero goal", Big Joe gave us the next best City moment. I remember being at Wembley thinking City have let us down again until you know what. That sheer absolute feeling of absolute mayhem when Dickov scored was like nothing else!!

The guy is a City legend, it's as simple as that - he pulled us up from being a joke club and with his brilliant signings he turned us from a mid-table Division 2 punchbag into a PL team within 2 seasons and barely any money. I am happy to be corrected but no other manager has done that have they?

As others have said, his work with Oldham was off the scale for a small-town club and they could quite easily have challenged for the title if they could've kept that squad together it was so good. I'm sure Everton are still trying to win another cup since Big Joe won them their last one!

He's a legend and I don't care what anyone else thinks. Goater, Dickov, Morrison, Weaver all became legends because of him.

As I have said before, Big Joe dragged us into the PL and sadly - and not surprisingly - the team from Div 2 wasn't quite good enough. However, he was the first manager in a LONG time to leave us in a better place than when he arrived and he paved the way for KK to come in. The rest is history, but if we had picked another dickhead manager instead of Big Joe then KK, Sven, Mancini and Pep wouldn't be here. We would be hoping that Rob Edwards would take us into the PL instead.

A fantastic manager and thanks Joe for that 2-2 moment, it's one I'll never forget! I wish the club would get him onto the pitch before a game as it would fire the crowd up!

Listened to the Joey Barton podcast with Chappy yesterday and they were both very complimentary of big Joe as a man and as a great manager

I thought he was great as a player
scored 1 : 4 roughly for us.... Just checking from that era...Gary Owen..only made 124 apps for us - what a shame we shoved him out with Barnesy - criminal neglect when Allison came in for 2nd stint
