John Bond 1932-2012

I saw him after the game at Norwich last season. Unfortunately he looked very ill and I had to do a double take as I didn't realise it was him at first.

Happy memories of that 81 season but unfortunately the good days didn't last. I remember we gave him a load of stick at Bradford away one year when he was there as a tv pundit. Looking back now he probably didn't deserve that and I'd rather remember him for that cup run. R.I.P.

Just want to add my condolences, as I sit here and remember that 1980/81 season with great fondness.

R.I.P. John Bond........ and thanks.

I attended the Rochdale branch meeting that John Bond attended, can't recall the year... early 2000's.
Fantastic meeting. He was very forthright in his comments which you could only admire. He said he couldn't believe the love City fans had for Nicky Reid, and the dislike to his son Kevin, yet a year or so later his lad was the supporters player of the year.
I stuck my hand up and admitted i was one of the fans who wasn't happy with his son's signing - but voted for him when he was player of the year and he thanked me for my honesty!

John Bond, thanks for the great memories..... the cup runs in 81, Stoke away / Trevor Francis etc..... RIP

Remember when he was Appointed,The news came through as we were coming back from the Hawthorns lost 1-3,(Daley) His firste homegame was against Birmingham-we lost 0-1,but brought the three Tommy Hutch.Bobby Mac and Gerry Gow in -when the Transfer Window didnt exist and off we went! Semi Final @ Scousers (which i still cant understand why Kevin Reeves goal was disallowed by Alf Grey @ MR) And came within 10 Mins v Spurs of lifting the Fa Cup @Wembley.Great days coupled with Respectability in Div 1,Trevor Francis arrived, the following season-Wonderfull Times.RIP John you are still one of us!!
I remember the WBA away match which followed the Leeds away game on the Tuesday (Big Mals last game and featured in the "City" documentary) I was at both matches. At this point we felt doomed to relegation. John Bond was appointed and we never looked back. You could go on and on about the 80/81 season could'nt you? because so much happened. Thanks for that John.

Rest in Peace John. Thanks for all the memories. Buying Gerry Gow and Tommy Hutchinson was inspired. The semi final win at Villa Park was against one of the best sides in Europe and the two trips to Wembley were great occasions.
