Always remember coming back in the car from an away game and listening to Sports Report where Stuart Hall said as part of his match report "There was John Bond, complete with Lady Di hairdo" .

John Bond did wonders at City.

I also remember that. I was waiting for the bus on Parkside radio, radio in hand, after a game against West Brom, and Stuart Hall in his match report describing “John Bond, complete with Lady Di hairdo”. PRICELESS! He was actually very stylish in his manner and the way he dressed, with or without his sheepskin coat. RIP.

Yes it is amazing what you remember (can't remember many games in the latter part of the Stuart Pearce era...good! That might be my brain blocking it out)

Anyway Baggies. It was summer - think it was first game of the season. WBA wore their classic yellow and green away shirts (why? navy and white stripes wouldn't have clashed), and I think we won 2-1.

PS Don't you think Andy May had a bit of a Lady Di hairdo as well? Well I always referred to him as Lady Diana May...

Phil Boyer. Top scorer in the league the previous season, or was it the year before? For Southampton, I think. We signed him and he got only one or two goals in his entire time at City

Including 2 away at Spurs in a rare victory at WHL, one of which was the highest lobbed goal in history!

Just checked, top scores with 23 in 29 games the previous season for Saints. Three in 20 appearances for City. So typical

He ws playing very well when he got badly injured (v Norwich I think) and his career was ruined after that.
