The legendary director and composer turns 75 today

gotta say I love nearly all his movies, even those laters one much maligned (even ghosts of mars)

His genre defining horror of the late 70s early 80s and social comentary through parody made him stand out.

As a huge horror fan, the majority of John Carpenter films have never really done it for me. Halloween, Christine and especially The Thing are some of my favourite Horror films of all time, but the rest barely interest me at all.

early stuff are great , but defiantly tails off with his later films

but he always has the genre defining halloween

I adored They Live with the late Rowdy Roddy Piper, sure i heard they was remaking Big Trouble in Little China

It was planned with the rock playing burton, when asked Carpenter was ambivalent about such an idea.

The head of productions of the company funding a new film came put an clarufued if tgere was anew film it would be a sequel as they could not imagine anyone but Russel as Jack Burton, though russel is no yet open to a sequel

Johnson loves the orilginal though and pushed for a new movie, after the producers commemts and russel lack of commitment he still wants to make a new film but has since said he would not play Jack but a new charactor in the same universe out of respect for the original and fans love of the cult film.
