The recent performances of Stones and Otamendi mean we're fretting less about Kompany's continued absence, and there can be no bigger accolade. Both have stepped up hugely in recent weeks. Makes a mockery of the argument that Guardiola doesn't improve players.
 
Obviously many of these are sideways passes under little pressure, but an impressive stat nonetheless. He's not shy about attempting to pass through the lines when given the chance either.

 
His defending has improved considerably this season. Made a great challenge on morata early on when they took that quick free kick. Much better aerially too. Keep it big fella.

Yes, absolutely this. Just as an aside on that theme listening to the James Richardson podcast this week after Ancelotti's sacking at Munich, they were highlighting too just how much different between him and Pep the hierarchy at that club have noticed this season- how hands off he is compared to Pep, how little coaching of individual players he does - the contrast there has been enormous- and I'm sure it's one we will feel to some extent when he leaves us. They've only really realised it now he's gone I think
